Profile of the INFJ #5: Because I'm Almost Out of General MBTI Stuff

No ranting will be available from now on, but my personal analysis of the points brought up will still be there. In the spirit of INFJ symbolism and our tendency to speak as such, I think it's fair to compare my current situation with the one which we so commonly saw in the Math paper in Primary School. Remember the one with the snail who crawls up a wall? The snail that climbs 3cm up and slides 2 cm back? I'm doing the sliding back right now, but it's intentional, unlike the snail who doesn't know any better and frankly...probably can't control it. Or maybe like a stalking cat, the cautiousness of approaching the prey, but taking precautionary steps back once the prey is considered too threatening.

     Enough irrelevant nonsense though.

1. INFJs and Small Talk
I have covered this topic before, but I think that this quotes summarises things very clearly. Of course, as the NF type most aware of social norms and their contribution to human interaction, we cannot expect people to respond too kindly if we jump into a conversation spouting things that would be considered gibberish. We always have to go through the mundane process of "what's up" and similar questions that very much turn me right off because, really, if you're having a bad day, I can tell and I would like to go right into helping you and comforting you rather than trying to beat around the bush to manipulate your into giving up your secrets.

I think that's why INFJs are so very appreciative and fascinated by people who are not afraid to say things out of the norm. Others may think that it's rude to insult a teacher and usually do not think to question the legitimacy of teachers. For example, there was one video that a teacher showed us depicting the situation of a suicidal person. Of course, more than one person stated that it was "inappropriate" but even then, that is small talk. Because, no shit Sherlock. But there was one person who could tell me straight in the face why exactly he thought it was inappropriate and in that one explanation, he revealed to me much more than anyone else did with longer conversations. This person is also the proof that no matter how much you seem to stray on the superficial level from your MBTI, your inner personality is still very much your MBTI. Also, he understood that it was not "inappropriate", but the ridiculous nature of the video that was offensive. Impressive. Finally I don't think I was the only joker who thought like that.

I love it when people tell me things unconventional. I don't care for convention - I know them well enough through observations in life. I like people who show me a very different point-of-view and while I may not agree, it is certainly more rewarding than talking to people who speak common sense all the way. Still, these people are rare and frankly, it is partly my fault that the people I always talk to are all quite conventional, whether they admit it or not. If they can't admit it, it's even worse, because one of my most despised qualities is the inability to be self-aware.

2. INFJ on Forgiving and Forgetting
And that's why it bothers me so much to hold on to grudges. Even if someone else has done something wrong to me, it is not entirely their fault. It could be my incompetence that has caused them to be encouraged to hurt me. It could be my moment of sensitivity that caused me to react badly. No matter what the situation, there is always fault partly attributed to me and if I expect an apology from the other party, I should be apologising too. Also, I never want to withhold forgiveness. So no matter what happens, really, if a sincere apology is offered, forgiveness will be automatic. I have seen what holding onto the past can cause in one's life and the life of those one hold dear. To forget is really not my policy. I won't hold onto the grudge, of course, but like everyone who is capable of thought should be aware - you need to learn from your lessons. If I was too frank this time and hurt someone, then next time I'll try to be less frank. That, in a way, is not forgetting.

3. INFJ and Being Sensitive
I think this really depends on how you view the whole issue on "sensitivity". INFJs are sensitive to the feelings of others, in the sense that we can feel what other's are feeling. We can also foresee future events, although I'm an INFJ superbly good at ignoring bad gut feelings, so in a way, we are sensitive. But as elaborated by the poster, he means "sensitive" in the sense that we don't overreact. That's the business of INFPs. Most of the time, INFJs can be extremely neutral and uncaring about a variety of things going on around them. One big contrast, of course, is the issue of jealousy, which is apparent in INFPs but quite absent in INFJs. INFPs feel their own emotions deeply, that is sensitivity. INFJs feel others emotions deeply and are often very confused by their own. Also, INFJs who are healthy usually have very good defenses against the emotions of others. In my case, I think I find myself too often in situations that continuously wear down my ability to filter emotions and thus my oversensitivity. I would hate to be an INFP...because honestly, their empathy is fake and manipulative at best, at least that's how I view it.

Another distinction perhaps lie in that INFPs...as I see it...are quite selfish. They naturally ask "How does this impact me?" before "How does this affect others?" because of their Fi being a dominant function. Even in ENFPs, who have Fi as well, it is not that bad because it's auxiliary. Therefore, INFPs are probably quicker to react to situations, understanding the direct relation of things that impact them. On the other hand, INFJs become sensitive only after realising their helplessness. I don't get upset easily if people target me. I get upset when someone else is upset and there's not a thing in the world I can do, or I failed to do whatever I needed to do. That's when we get upset, so the reaction is slower.

4. INFJ and Brain Orientation
That is why, the most common careers for INFJs statistically are actually - religious worker, counsellor and...scientists. You would think that NFs make for horrible scientists, but surprisingly, like INFJs always are, we are quite different from other NFs. While all other NFs are right-brained, INFJ have a very deep balance between right and left, because of the Ti function coming so early in the order. For ENFJs, Ti is inferior and thus not often used. For ENFPs and INFPs, it's Te instead and Te is generally less adept than Ti for science purposes. So while INFJs are often considered empathetic, spiritual, creative, etc etc, we are very capable of taking on scientific careers as long as we put effort and interest into it. That's maybe why I often find myself equally good at science and arts, depending only on the level of interest I have. The only problem with science in school is the problem that teachers don't explain half the things they teach because "it's not in the syllables" and then get annoyed when you spend too much time reading up on things instead of doing their useless homework (which is just me copying directly from the notes).

5. INFJ and Betrayal
Ah yes. NFs are all cuddly-little love bears, aren't we? But there's a reason why INFJs are so scary. Have you ever heard of the warm and cold temperaments? Here's how it goes for the NFs:
INFP: Lukewarm on the outside, warm on the inside
ENFP: Warm on the outside, warm on the inside
INFJ: Cold on the outside, warm on the inside
ENFJ: Warm on the outside, warm on the inside

So INFJ is the only NF with a "cold" under their belt. "Inside" is what we show with trust and so when INFJ's trust is betrayed, we may not become the scariest type, but we certainly make people feel the worst. It's hard to push an INFJ to the point of an absolute door slam, but the moment it arrives, it brings along a winter chill and passive-aggressiveness that other types cannot compare to. I think "door slam" is an understatement, because we don't slam just one door. We slam all the doors and build so many walls that you can't possibly climb back again. But of course, it depends on what "crime" you have committed. INFJs are the types to care about "intentions" and so if betrayal comes with the intention to betray, you can be sure we throw you into a pit so deep and wish hell upon your entire life. The number of doors slammed in your face...well, it approaches infinity at that point.

6. INFJ Most Likely

7. INFJ and Maturity
But doesn't it scare others when you are more mature and knowing than them? It makes people uncomfortable when you know them too well. It makes people feel inferior if you reveal to them too many things they don't know. Not academic things, mind you, just things that INFJs tend to learn through observation. INFJs, like the INTJs, are born as very quiet children, who have bouts of intelligence that scare adults. It's not because we are miraculous, we just have the habit of observing and noting patterns from an extremely young age. Social cues become something that is established early in life and we try to follow them through childhood, only to realise when they are appropriate later in life.

We observe the adults. When mommy tells aunty a secret, aunty will pat her on the back and share something about herself in return. Even as tiny children, INFJs start to ask "Why?" Why does aunty pat mommy on the back? - Soft physical contact from a trusted individual creates comfort. Why does aunty tell mommy something back? - To reassure her that her secret is safe, offering her own secret in return as if to say "If I tell your secrets, you can betray me too". INFJs note these kinds of things down. It's slightly different from INTJs. INTJs are more likely to stare at the airplanes, the TVs, the sky and then suddenly ask "mommy, if the sea is blue and the sky is blue, are the same thing?"

8. INFJ and How They Relate to Other Types
INFJ: Identity
They are the same types. Feeling like they are competing in the same space, the two may initially oppose each other. However, they usually recognise their similarities and begin to cooperate.

ENFJ: Pal
Similar worldviews, foals and thoughts. The Introvert is more original, while the Extrovert is better at implementing goals and plans. They get along at work and at play.

INFP: Complement
They have interests in similar realms but their strengths have opposite emphasis. They solve the same problem with different approaches and for different reasons.

ENFP: Contrast
They have the same order of functions but the Introvert/Extrovert direction of each function is reversed. They have similar interests but the Perceiver thinks of possibilities while the Judger thinks of plans. They have different goals and opposite emphasis on strengths.

ISTP: Supplement
They have the same functions in different order. One's weaker strengths are the other's stronger strengths. Their strengths can add to each other.

ESTP: Anima
They have the same functions but in reverse order. Each sees the other as having strengths that the former wishes to improve upon.

ISFP: Suitemate
The two enjoy the same environment and have little interpersonal friction. They do not have anything in common but they can enjoy everyday activities together.

ESFP: Cohort
The two find each other in the same activities only when one is stressed out and wishes to "escape" from normalcy.

INTJ: Companion
They have the same primary function. The two have a mutual understanding of each other and can talk on a deep, honest level.

ENTJ: Tribesman
They have similar cultures and are often found in the same social groups. They have different strengths and will be pursuing goals independent of each other.

INTP: Advisor
Each has insight that the other lacks. They find each other to be a source of fresh perspectives and enjoy each other's company.

ENTP: Pedagogue
Each has insight and strength that the other lacks. They develop a parent-child relationship.

ISTJ: Enigma
They are completely mysteries to each other. They have different goals and strengths.

ESTJ: Novelty
Their differences are so striking that they are curious about each other. They sometimes run into conflict due to their fundamental differences in worldview.

ISFJ: Neighbour
The two are often found in the same jobs or walks of life, but they reached their position through completely different means.

ESFJ: Counterpart
The two perform the same functions but are in different realms. They have mutual respect for each other but do not necessarily wish they had the same skillset as the other.

9. INFJ Traits
Sees Self as a deep-thinker in love with new ideas and insights, but somewhat detached from others.
Overriding need to understand the complexity of people and life.
Irritated by hypocrisy, limits on personal freedom, impersonal details and mundane tasks.
Strengths provides future-oriented insights that inspire others, follows through on commitments with integrity and consistency
Seen by others as somebody who is creative, insightful, stubborn and hard to get to know
Decides through private pondering, may make up mind too quickly and then worry endlessly
Irritates others by neglecting details, getting over-emotional, going off at unrealistic tangents, using overly complex language
Challenges may take criticism personally, blurt out feelings unwisely, withdraw socially for long periods, succumb to addictive disorders

Post-Exam Joy

I know the next exams are in about 2-3 months' time and I really shouldn't start slacking, but...it's me. I screwed up the exams this time, not because I didn't study enough (although "enough" is very subjective), but because of my own stupidity. Also, it didn't help that I was a little more nervous than I usually am in an exam environment. In fact, I think I was so prepared to take A Level Econs that that became the reason why I just went ahead and did a combination of 3 questions based on the A Level style of "minimum 1 question from each section, to a total of 3".

Out of all the papers, I actually had the most fun with Literature and the least fun with Math. It's weird because I spent about 1.5 weeks on Math in total and a total of less than 2 hours on Literature. It was more light-hearted and slow-paced and when compared to History and Econs, I had more than enough time to think about my answer before writing it. On the other hand, the other two papers required me to read the question and immediately start writing because I as hell can't plan and write an essay in 45 min. It's as if they expect everyone who takes the A Levels to have the ability to plan while writing.

If Literature exam rules stated that I could not bring in my books, it would be a completely different story. I have no idea how many people are stupid enough to not realise that half the answers for "All My Sons" are found in the Introduction. The entire point about Joe Keller being short-sighted and uncaring about humanity in general, thus undermining the goodness of his intentions and thus making him a villain, is found on page 3 of the Introduction. I just copied the entire thing down, inserted a quote and analysed the quote. Didn't even have to think of the phrasing myself.

Well, resourcefulness has always been a strong suit of mine. I remember those days in Secondary School where we had so many random assessments that gave you a period of 1-3 weeks to hand up a project. Yeah, I always did them in 3 days and people are shocked by the amount of information I have inside. "Really? All I did was to type in ___ in Google..." How is it that the search engine likes me more?

In fact, the Literature paper was so slack for me that I ended up thinking about things other than the answer. For example, the only useful quote I remembered was from Lady Windermere's Fan, in the first act, in which Lady Windermere goes - "It (Life) is not speculation. It is a sacrament; Its ideal is Love and its purification is Sacrifice." This quote is meant to be an expression of her naive idealism, and to some extent, her moral absolutism, when paired with the quote that comes after during the "If the husband is vile - should the wife be vile also?" part. The scary thing I realised during the paper was that...I think I do agree with that statement. Does that mean that I am equally naive?

"Its ideal is Love." Well, it is. If everyone in this world possess unconditional love for everyone else around them, then yes, I do believe that this world would be a much better place and thus, Love, of the unconditional variant, is an ideal. "Its purification is Sacrifice." That's also true. Sacrifice, to put it in another way, is to be limitlessly selfless and to always prioritise the well-being of others. So, when considering the capitalist culture of the world today, which exacerbates the issues of being selfish, uncaring and material/profit-driven, Sacrifice thus purifies the corruption of capitalism.

Oh no. Here I am, criticising Lady Windermere on her naivety and praising her progress throughout the play (of course, arguing that at the end, she physically escapes reality by going to Selby and isn't exposed to the entire truth, thus undermining the extent of her progress) and I'm actually believing in the same things. Is she an INFP? I think she's an INFP. Her decisions are a little too rash and her actions are a little too contradictory to her beliefs to be an INFJ, but I think INFP is fair judgement.

Math was just nightmare. History killed my arm and then Math killed my brain. It is not a good idea to have a Math paper after any paper because I think Math is a subject where you cannot have your energy drained. You need full energy. I feel asleep during the paper, for like 15 minutes and barely had time to finish. Well, at least I did finish the paper... Also, people are going to hate me for this, but I really wished there was more calculus because I know I'm better at it than others and it will differentiate me. Statistics is overwhelmingly simple, and I'd probably lose out to some people because of that. There was only 1 bloody question for Differentiation...but it was quite difficult.

History was quite fun too, but it didn't have the light-heartedness of Literature. I was very on-task, since I recorded down the time I took for each essay and they had a mean of 45 minutes with a variance of about 5 minutes. Thus since n = 4<50, variance and population is known, by Central Limit Theorem...Nah, I'll stop there. Anyway, the questions are relatively simple and straightforward, except for that SEA Hist question on idealogical differences.

This brings me to another issue. Why do people go for consults? What is the purpose of consults if I remember the teacher's instructions better than you do even after you have went for consult. She has said at least 3 times that if the question asks about "idealogical differences", you focus on that and don't spend half your essay addressing other factors. Really, I remembered that after the very first time she said it and I got the structure for those kind of essays too. Why do people go for consults and not remember such things? Bizarre. But then again, I have never, in all my years in school, needed consults.

Also, I have a certain distaste towards people who go for them. It's just the notion that 1. The teacher has done her part in teaching and revision should be my responsibility. The teacher does not need to entertain me if I failed to listen in class. And half the time, the things she say in consults are whatever she has said a million times in class already. 2. I actually need help. 3. That people would seek help from teachers without first studying by themselves.

I know I'm a very proud person and it's against my pride to ask teachers for help. I have went to school in China for a term and I know that teachers there do not give a shit about whether you understand. Singaporean teachers hold your hands like nothing else I've seen. Even the kindergarten teachers in China don't hold you hands that much. Honestly, in China, teaching is their job. They have taught everything already and it's your problem if you didn't listen and you didn't understand. Take some damn pride in yourself and use your damn brain to figure things out if you don't understand. If your brain can't figure it out, the consults are unlikely to fix that.

Furthermore, it angers me when people who don't usually study go for consults. Seriously, when my friends who study their asses off all day go for consults, I have no problem with that. It's the feeling that they have already tried their best and devoted a lot of effort into it. Thus they have reached a very well-established conclusion that they need help. People who don't usually study that go for consult - people who have no pride and no respect for hard work. If you never even tried, don't you dare go for consults, you lazy piece of shit! Have some goddamn pride in yourself and try by yourself first. I'm sure no one in the future will hold your hand unless you manipulate them to. In which case I know what MBTI you are then.

I think the only time I came close to a consult was the time when I spent about 6 hours one night trying to figure out a question. Even then, I never EVER take other people's answers as the correct one. It is against my pride to copy Math answers, because it's the admittance that 1. I am inferior to you. 2. I am incapable of just admitting my failure outright. I never ask for the answer, unless I've already solved the question. If I can't solve, I'll just ask the teacher for a prompt - for the direction of thinking I should take and go from there. It angers me and disgusts me when people just take answers as they are without thinking or even trying. If you don't want to use your brain, dig it out and bury it. At least then it's doing something productive, like providing nutrients for the soil.

Now for MBTI on Tumblr stuff. If I rant anymore, I'll just end up getting myself annoyed at people.

1. MBTI Arguing Squads
Would start crying during an argument squad: INFP, ISFP, ENFP, ESFP
I used to cry when I argued with my dad, but it was that kind of uncontrollable tears because my dad, until this day, has the belief that because he is older than me, everything I say is wrong and everything he says is right. But crying during an argument is the worst way to state your point, because to me, crying will always be a sign of weakness. You are more likely to trust in the opinion of someone who states it confidently, rather than someone who is breaking down.

Didn't realise they were in an argument squad: ENTP, INTP, ESTP, ISTJ
Really? Did you not feel the spike in tension? Do you not feel the plunge in the mood?

Knew they were arguing and meant to make the other person cry squad: ENTJ, ESTJ, INTJ, ISTP
How can I like ENTJs and INTJs less than I already do? This is what makes me hate them so much. You argue to state a point and I often withdraw when I see I've pushed the other person too far, regardless of who I think is right. I don't want to win the battle, but lose the war. In contrast, these people will go to any extent to make you admit that they are right. Disgusting. It disgusts me to think that people believe that it's more important to prove the rightness of your opinion than to ensure the well-being of the people around you. Just because you are an insensitive jerk, doesn't mean everyone else is like that too. These people...I don't ever want to know them particularly well.

Is comforting the crying person squad: ENFJ, INFJ, ISFJ, ESFJ
I have done that more times than I can count...especially since I often find myself trying to mitigate arguments between two very emotional parties. One person would break down crying and while I'm comforting them, the other one breaks down because they think I'm being biased. I don't mind comforting them, but I would rather not have a situation in which people are crying in the first place.

2. Four Seasons Squad
Spring: ISFP, ESFJ, ENFP, INFP
I like spring, because stereotypically, it's the season of new beginnings. Of course, like the poem I have mentioned thousands of times, that may not be the truth of the season, but when the majority of people believe in that connotation and become happy with the arrival of spring, then it really doesn't matter. People are happy during spring and that's what matters.

Summer: ESFP, ESTP, ENFJ, ENTJ
I hate summer. Worst time of the year. It's hot, it's stuffy and it's what Singapore has all year round. The trees are too green with too little variation, people are too loud and too boisterous. It's a chore to be in summer. It's the transition between my two favourite seasons that I have to bear with.

Autumn: ISTP, ESTJ, ISFJ, INFJ
The most beautiful time of the year. I like the feeling of autumn a little more than spring. Spring is too optimistic, too ideal and as the most realistic type within the idealists, INFJs are the most drawn towards melancholy and the beauty of it. While the other NF types avoid unpleasantries, INFJs often find beauty in them. The coming of winter is usually not something people enjoy, but it is beautiful all the same. Leaves turn into fiery red, warm orange and brilliant gold, the chill of the wind as it ruffles the red-orange-gold. The image of a world of pure-white that awaits after autumn. It's a transitionary season that is all too melancholic and beautiful at the same time.

Winter: ISTJ, ENTP, INTJ, INTP
Winter, here, is associated with cold-hearted types. I can't agree any less. People see summer as a happy season and winter as a sad one, but I think summer is superficial and fake, and true beauty lies in winter. Winter the season where everything gets covered in a layer of pure-white, almost like the purification of nature, waiting and preparing for a new year ahead. Also, it's the end of the year, a time for families to meet once more and celebrate the festivities of winter together. This, in comparison with the frivolity and superficiality of summer, makes winter an amazing season. So yes, I just really hate summer.

3. MBTI and What They Thrive On
ISTJ: Duty
"The Logistician" take pride in their high sense of responsibility and ambition to make the most out of their knowledge.

ESTJ: Leadership
"The Executive" is in a comfort zone when they know they are in control of their surroundings, as they enjoy establishing orders and their own visions.

ENTJ: Challenge
"The Commander" has high self-confidence and are more than willing to test others' limits, sometimes even their own, to prove competence.

INTJ: Understanding
"The Architect" has a brilliant mind that craves depth and truth in every aspect, thus they have a natural sense of wanting thorough explanantion.

INTP: Knowledge
"The Logician" take pride in their quick and curious minds, whose thoughts can only be settled once they process answers.

ENTP: Leisure
"The Debater" is only able to process information clearly and put their knowledge to its best uses when their minds are at ease.

ENFP: Discovery
"The Campaigner" is gifted with powerful curiosity and nothing satisfies more than answers and proof to feed their never-ending thoughts.

INFP: Harmony
"The Mediator" is guided by their principles to communicate with depth and find the true meaning of people and peace.

INFJ: Altruism
"The Advocate" has a heart of gold and a natural sense of giving that root from their immensely caring trait.

ENFJ: Reliability of others
"The Protagonist" is known to have strong leadership qualities that are able to inspire others who are willing and leave their authentic legacy behind.

ESFP: Positive attention
"The Entertainer", as told by their name, enjoys spending time and energy to make their dear ones crack a laugh or two; it can only be encouraged by openly appreciating their efforts.

ISFP: Flexibility
"The Adventurer", owning up to their title, loves immense exploring and would be comfortable to know they have just the space to do so.

ISTP: Adventure
"The Virtuoso" enjoys physical exploration of their surroundings and is a carefree creature who can't be stopped once adrenaline pumps.

ESTP: Freedom
"The Entrepreneur" needs to know they're not tied down and are able to choose what goes on in their surroundings, or they might just get out of hand.

ESFJ: Status
"The Consul" knows exactly how they'd like to be perceived as and will go miles to uphold their good name.

ISFJ: Affection
"The Defender" is a sensitive soul who would appreciate a reciprocation of their kind trait.

4. INFJ-INTP on Psychology
INFJ: I didn't know you were interested in Psychology as well.

INTP: I find it to be fascinating, the human mind is indeed the most complex system there is.

INFJ: Have you any interest in becoming a psychiatrist?

INTP: *stares at him incredulously* Me? A psychiatrist?

INFJ: *raises an eyebrow* You seem to be rather invested in Psychology and Psychiatry is a bran--

INTP: Psychiatry entails prolonged interactions with human beings, most of which don't have a legitimate ailment - well, at least one that is more serious than the death of their goldfish. Do you actually expect me to sit there and empathise with such trivialities?

INFJ: I thought the human mind was a fascinating, complex system?

INTP: It is! I want to understand it - to experiment on and explore its capacities and capabilities. I'm not interested in helping people.

INFJ:*stares at him thoughtfully*

INTP: Stop profiling me.

5. MBTI and College Majors
ESFP: Communications
ESTP: Criminal Justice

ESFJ: Nursing
ESTJ: Business
ISFJ: History

ENTP: Philosophy
INTJ: Chemistry
INTP: Physics

6. INFJ Rage

7. How to Attract MBTI Types
ENFP: Flirt with them once and then act completely unattainable. ENFPs love a challenge.
That isn't that hard to do. No wonder these people are so easily taken in with others.

INFP: Act like you have a deep, brooding secret that you're too guarded to reveal. The INFP will not sleep, eat, or breathe until they've broken down you walls.
......Wait, isn't that an ENFJ thing to do? No wonder they are so compatible. They are both not breathing, trying to figure each other out. Weirdos. If they don't tell you, then it's not your place to know. When they are ready to tell you, they would.

ESTP: Act sweet, wide-eyed and impressed by everything they do. Their ego will respond well to your fuel.
Sorry, I'm not that desperate and I'll never be that desperate.

ENTP: Challenge their logic and rebut their manipulative tactics.
Gladly, come here and fight me ENTP.

INTP: Take initiative. Take initiative again. Repeat until INTP notices your existence. Then take initiative again.
Tell me why I shouldn't just date my bed then. I think my bed is more responsive.

ESFP: Look good, make it clear that you're available and then just hand around for a while. Their natural "people curiosity" will eventually drive them to come after you.
And there, ladies and gentlemen, is why both ESFPs and ENFPs are rather multi-timing people.

ISTP: Infiltrate their social circle, see them regularly, match their level of nonchalance and then put sex on the table.
Sadly, I will only be willing to perform the second action of seeing them regularly.

ESTJ: Have excellent hygiene and constantly tell them they're right.
If you're wrong, you're wrong. I won't tell you you're right when I know you can take the opposition.

ISTJ: Be bubbly enough to warm their hearts but scattered enough to imply that you need their help.
And that type would be...? INFJ? Probably not but yeah.

ISFP: Be adventurous and playful and take an interest in them - then give them space to sort out their feelings and come to you.
Here, ESFP and ENFP, I found your perfect match!

ENFJ: Act like the stereotypical bad boy/bad girl but show glimpses of deep emotion - they'll clamour to figure you out and bring out the best in you.
Conversely, you could make them watch every other American drama because that's basically the storyline.

ISFJ: Act like a superhero, but one who needs to be taken care of. They'll jump at the chance to nurture your reckless spirit.
I thought that was ESFJ? But yes, that's probably a shared trait between the two of them.

INFJ: Be one big, walking paradox. Look them deep in the eyes and tell them that you "need them" to help figure yourself out.
Wait, you need my help to find yourself? Gimme a second, I'll pack my bag and everything and I'll be right with you. You know what, scratch that. I'm right with you NOW.

ESFJ: Be popular among your mutual peers but make it clear that you often forget to eat lunch or get enough sleep. They'll lust obsessively after the chance to be the one who takes care of you.
This is why you find yourself in deep shit. These people are trouble.

ENTJ: Assure them that a relationship with you is a low-risk investment that will yield a sizeable emotional return. Be strong in your character, but not stronger than them.
Bitch, do you think you are worth that much effort? Nope, so screw off.

INTJ: Present them with a completely unprecedented way of thinking about something they were previously decided on. You'll shake their foundation and win their admiration.
It's actually quite easy to do this...except that I don't really like INTJs in general. You would think Ni-dom buddies and all, but no.

8. Honest Opinions of the Types (INFJ Edition)
1. ISTJ
I honestly love you people so much. You wouldn't think that INFJs and ISTJs would be that compatible but the ones I have met are not at all how they are portrayed in stereotypes. One of them is one of the nicest, warmest, empathetic and caring people I know in this world. I love your dedication to tasks, especially when that manifests as doing your duty to complete goals that benefit other people. You can actually be so weird and open and honest with me and I am so thankful for it. I feel like you guys stand out in this sort of solid way. Like your presence really sort of grounds me. Not in a rigid way, but because you're focused, determined and aware of rules and deadlines and structure I feel more at ease.
So I think my on-the-spot decision to classify that one friend as an ISTJ is actually correct. Awesome, my Ni coming into play I think.

2. ESTJ
I want to type gibberish from smashing my keyboard with frustration. I feel like we're sort of twins but from parallel universes. When we met, we're so friendly to one another, we're aware of social cues that others don't notice and we both try to include and lead people. We can open up to each other quickly and get on really well from the get-go. But, something always happens with me and you guys. After a while, I feel like we sort of don't really understand each other as much as I thought we did. Also, I know you're busy but seriously you're so bad at non-face-to-face communication. Just. Message. Me. Back. Straight. Away.
I don't know any ESTJs, but I know I'm annoyed by the last part. It isn't that I don't understand that you're busy, but I understand social cues well enough to know that there's a limit to how much I can pester someone before it's regarded as being clingy. So stop being an asshole and just reply RIGHT AWAY.

3. ISFJ
Perfect, motherly, kind-hearted but vicious, blunt and realistic. I will get to my one issue further down, but I first must succinctly describe just how wonderful you are. You get me, mostly. Which is more than I can say for the other types. You notice people and look out for the harmony of people. My best friend and I are so painfully aware of when someone is breaking the social rules or just being weird or negative and knowing that you're there to vent my frustration about how people behave is so comforting. You are the most loyal friends, you express you souls the same in person as virtually and it's a beautiful skill most people don't have. You get 90% of the things that I complain to you about and it makes me feel so much less alone. The only thing that annoys me about you guys is your dislike of conflict. It's not all the time, and to varying degrees, but sometimes when someone is being a dick to you, I wish you could lash out at them and stick up yourself because you are too good to be trampled on when all you do is care and suffer for others. You are surprisingly analytical and intuitive and I want to crush you with hugs because we get each other.
And I can vouch for this. You would think ISFJs are not intuitive because they are S types, but the one ISFJ I know, who is very close to me, is surprisingly intuitive for an S type. I can get a lot of things by the detection radar of S types, but ISFJs are slightly better than the rest.

4. ESFJ
I'm sort of just warmly indifferent. I love we can clean things together because I don't think the other types understand how calming it is. You can be nice and there for me, but there's really nothing else there. I want to understand you and appreciate your kindness for other people but often you come off as shallow and fake, but I know that's not really you and I just feel sort of alien with you. I don't think you realise, as ironic as it is for your type, how uncomfortable I am sometimes. Maybe that's because the thins you usually accommodate and apologise for are more physically obvious and like "normal". Feeling out of place and lonely and all the other things INFJs feel isn't something you're used to dealing with probably and I don't think you can sense it.
The advantage I have, I suppose, is that my ESFJ friend actually opened up to me deeply enough that I can very very easily see beyond what INFJs see as "fake" in the ExFJs. Because I know the kind of things you've been through and how affected you are, I understand the sincerity of your gestures, which is shocking because technically and theoretically, INFJs should be more understanding of ENFJs than ESFJs, because by function resonance, we don't really have that much resonance with ESFJs (there's the Fe-dom with Fe-aux + Ti-inf x Ti-ter and that's all) compared to perfect resonance with ENFJs (on every function basically, since dom-aux and ter-inf are reversed).

5. ISTP
I feel like many people hate you and you hate many people. But I appreciate your quietness and resourcefulness and doing what you want. You have a dark and rebellious energy that is attractive to me, but also quite intimidating. I don't know if you're nicer on the inside but probably not. I really don't know what you want out of life and that makes making conversation with you difficult. I sort of just observe you but I know I could never really get what your purpose is or what your life is like inside your head.
Again, I have advantage because my mom is an ISTP. Yes, my mom is the kind who has a lot of friends on the outside (especially for an ISTP), because of her naturally playful nature. It's a little sad that she cannot understand a lot of deep emotions and the kind of sentiments I possess. My dream of improving the world to her is ridiculous, naive and unrealistic. Whenever she insults someone behind their back and I tell her off for it, I'm seen as no-fun and too rigid. It's a difficult relationship, to be sure, especially since she just wants to experience and have fun in life. Quite hedonistic, I believe.

6. ESTP
Chill. Like I know inside for sure you're actually like a stoic intellectual for your few technical interests but outside you have the loudest energy. Also, I'm not going to pretend that all the shallow, pointless things you do like constantly getting drunk and accidentally hurting yourself don't make me die inside. You're so awkward too? Like how is that for popular fuckboy extroverts? Like you're that attractive guy that is always at parties and is popular, but you're not a complete meat-headed jock all the time, like I don't hear you speak of your own accord that much surprisingly. I feel like if I met one of you who was a bit more aware of people's feelings I could be friends with you, but for now, I'll just cringe at the awkward and stupid things you do to have fun.
I don't know this type, but I can agree to the fact that I don't think I'll like them that much.

7. ISFP
I want to love you and shelter you from the world, but there's something not quite right about your energy. Like inside, you're hiding a really evil plot of mass murder or something and it unnerves me. Overall though, I think you are innocent but extremely easily influenced by others and you can play the victim very well and make me feel guilty as hell. Keep on dancing with fairies and being a smiley weird cutie.
That's exactly how I feel about ISFPs too. I have the impression of a cute little bunny that is soft and fragile, but also those kinds from horror films with blood-shot eyes and are actually demon-possessed. Call it paranoia or INFJ intuition...it's just unnerving.

8. ESFP
For real, I know know if you were isolated from other people, other than going insane, you wouldn't be fake or bitchy. I can pick up the internal nerdy things you think about that others don't catch and I don't know why you don't talk about them. Is pleasing people and having shallow relationships that fun? I'm probably jealous because I could never get high and make out with 15 people and crowd surf at a concert; be thankful you can have fun without a care in the world.
I agree, completely. I know ESFPs are supposed to be the most unthinking type who are hedonistic, careless and all those things INFJs don't stand for. But like I've said, no one in the world is shallow, it's just how much of their depth they 1. can accept and 2. are willing to show. Some people aren't even aware of the depth of their own thoughts and sacrifice that for shallow relationships...I cannot sympathise.

9. INTP
You actually get my deep inner world and my constant analysis of everything. You can sit quietly with me and talk about other people and I literally fly away from the world. I can only feel your energy and it's insane and I love it. But then you have to ruin it with your weird extremist political views and annoying intonation patterns. I know you don't know how aggressive you come off about your opinions and it makes me so tense. Also, pretty rich coming from self-righteous martyrs like us, but you are able to admit when you're wrong and change you mind, you know! One day, I will probably end up with one of you, but hopefully one with affection for humanity, morality and maturity.
I do wish I don't. My dad is an INTP and I cannot understand his completely distancing from humanity. It's not even in the Joe Keller sense of being short-sighted and unaware. My dad understands and recognises the impacts each action has on humanity at large, but he doesn't care. Love is reduced to a chemical compound that ensures survival and selfishness is wisdom for survival. I know guys usually like girls who are like their mothers and girls like guys who are like their fathers, but as long as my consciousness and wisdom remains intact, I would be a fool to end up with an INTP.

10. ENTP
For the longest time, I didn't understand why people always cite the ENTP-INFJ power couple thing. You come off as absent-minded, annoyingly forgetful and thoughtless rude assholes. But I know when you're in a good mood, we can have abstract conversations until the sun comes down and we can have the same sense of humour and really laugh about other people. If you've got a developed Fe, I'm quite happy to talk to you, but if you're a less mature ENTP and you think turning everything into an argument and being a dick is funny, please just know you sometimes deeply hurt my feelings and I want to kick you in the face.
I don't know, but I think since I'm in the school I am in, I either have to deal with the less-mature ENTP or the less-mature ESFP. Why? Because the ones who are smart cannot seem to understand that I'm NOT trying to start a debate and I don't want to argue with you. They end up making a situation in which I wanted comfort to one where I'm just scolding myself for thinking that a guy can even help with stuff. Then there's the jock group, who are rather nice and indulgent towards their female friends, but are so retarded and unaware of their own thoughts that it annoys me to no end. If only I swung the other way, life would really be a much easier thing to deal with.

11. INTJ
I don't know if you're all dark murderous villains or putting it on to seem mysterious but I see past it quite quickly. I know deep down how much you care about me and about changing things and justice. It makes me like you less when you act all superior and evil and I don't know why you do it. I think you're extremely hard-working and creative in ways people cannot appreciate or understand. I love how your mind works too.
Thank you for confirming my beliefs, fellow INFJ. I know for sure that the many INTJs I know aren't all cold-hearted and under that nonchalant and uncaring exterior, they possess a love for their friends that is almost comparable to the F types. There is something about those moments where they show their care that really throws me off, because it's so uncharacteristic of that mask that they wear. So whenever I get angry over their insensitivities, it always worries me, because I suspect, with good reason, that I may have perhaps hurt their feelings too and they are just too upset to apologise first.

12. ENTJ
Please stop talking about yourself at some point. I really want to like you, sometimes we have little moments of pity and being fed up with other people's incompetence and stupidity, but other times you are oblivious and I can sense your ruthless power-hunger. I feel like we could either be friends leading people, or scrape out each other's eyes in a bid for the throne. I do appreciate your connections and the effort you put into projects.
I wasn't wrong. INFJs cannot get along with ENTJs. It's not like we are polar opposites but we get along worse than INFJs get along with ESFPs or the more theoretically incompatible types. I guess we just fit at the wrong places so that our uneven parts scrape together roughly. You are too harsh, we are too soft. You are too dominating, we are too submissive.

13. INFP
You are so inconsistent, in every sense! Not only do you not follow your own values when it applies to other people, but you look like you're about to break something when you're probably really happy inside. I want to love you and I love the intensity of the emotions you feel, but you seriously need to work on the expression of such emotions outwardly. Do you not see the harm you are inflicting on others?
Wow, so I was absolutely right. The kind of sadness and melancholy I saw within that one INFP was enough to make me want to care, but he chooses to express it in such a way that harms those around him. The kind of affection and infatuation he had as well, but how does it translate into actions so terribly? You promise never to hurt her and that's what you did at every turn. Would you please hold on tighter to those values and mean what you say?

14. ENFP
I love you, I really do, but you're not the most reliable friends. You're so nice and energetic and you give me really warm vibes and we get along so well as soon as we meet each other and you get my sense of humour and my annoyances about other people. You appreciate when I help you and it feels my soul, but ignoring my advice makes me feel like you don't really listen. You are known to give the most authentic and accurate compliments that make me feel so good about myself and I just love your presence.
Hello? I would like to take an order of a normal ENFP guy please. This seems like a very good idea for an INFJ, but sadly, I don't know a lot of ENFP guys and those I know are not even stereotypical ones. As far as I'm aware, all the ENFP girls I know are very much ENFP and they bring me a lot of joy. They are understanding and caring, in the way only a fellow NF and be to an NF, but unlike INFP, they aren't inconsistently unreliable and unlike ENFJ, they seem to be able to lift my mood like no one else. It's miraculous even.

15. INFJ
I will write this myself. I love my own type, almost to a fault and the one INFJ I know personally, who is a guy, is like a miracle. How can a person, after talking to me 5 times, show that much care and concern despite the very very very concealed conversations we had. I revealed next to nothing and somehow it clicked within his mind every single sensitivities I had. It's relieving to know that I never had to say anything out loud and he doesn't pry. Ok, it's not that he doesn't pry, he just does it our INFJ way. ENFJ prying is to ask verbally while INFJ prying is just observation and deep analysis. It is, in some ways, more intrusive, but it does feel less intrusive. It was liberating to know that I'm not crazy and that someone, without me explaining in detail, can understand every single one of my views and agree with them. Sadly, as INFJs come, they are so very rare and also, when you have two people of the same type together, it becomes overwhelming at one point. Strangely enough, there is nothing beyond platonic feelings, probably because an INFJ and INFJ relationship is too much of a brotherly feeling.

16. ENFJ
You think you're so perfect...and you are, and I'm so envious of it. You can be really fake, but I know you are genuinely extremely kind and beautiful and even though you're popular, we both see through each other's masks and our connection is deep and strong. The moments I've shared with you have filled me up with bliss and our intuitive mind-reading abilities in conversation and shared opinions are magical. You make me feel whole and loved and understood, but I do get jealous of how many friends you have, it makes me feel less significant to you, but I know that's how you are and it doesn't change our individual relationship.
If I have to state it theoretically, it's basically a more connected ESFJ-INFJ relationship with a lot more understanding for each other's actions. The first part is true, I intuitively sense that the connection is deeper and more concrete despite the relatively shorter period of interactions. However, I think because the ESFJ I'm referring to has revealed to me and trusted in me so deeply that it's easy to say that I'm more convinced of her sincerity than the ENFJ's sincerity. I am also acutely aware that the ESFJ has no where near as much manipulative potential as the ENFJ and my relationship with the ESFJ is sustained by very concrete and frequent confirmations. But yes, it is always a beautiful moment when someone comes much closer, though still not close enough, to understanding me.

INFJ Compatibility (All 16 Types)

I'm feeling the start of a depressive episode again and I will keep this a rather short one. The bad gut feeling I'm getting is starting to worsen and I cannot help but feel like I'm actually the root cause of whatever horrible thing is about to unfold. Fortunately, my intuition is also telling me that the negative effects of whatever situation is limited to me, so I guess I'm not altogether too worried.

INFJ Compatibility with All 16 Types

1. INFJ and ISTJ
How the relationship works: ISTJs and INFJs are both very committed in a relationship and will set clear, concise goals in their own heads of where a relationship is going. They love to go out and do things together and will have the best time just hanging out. They've been known to surprise one another with small, delicate acts of kindness. They will thrive best in a long-term relationship and can work as a dynamite team to build a home together. Dedicated and truthful, this team can really work together to create beautiful things.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs and ISTJs are both pretty good liars and they are totally cool with hiding things from one another. Unfortunately, they both like to be told the direct truth. They are also both very good at arguing and will take everything personally in a clash. They both are prone to trust issues and while INFJs are very artistic with speaking, ISTJs like to simply get to the point of it all. Communication can be a major issue in this manner.

How to keep it: ISTJ and INFJs have got to work together as a team to solve problems; they can't just fight all the time, As much as it may make the ISTJ uncomfortable, sitting down and talking about feelings is completely necessary. INFJs may need to be completely literal in important situations so that all feelings are conveyed accurately. Small acts of romanticism and words of confirmation will help this couple to succeed.

My Opinion: I know 0 ISTJs, which means that any judgement I pass is theoretical. I assume that ISTJs are generally those kind of humble, hardworking and serious people, which means we aren't exactly very compatible. I agree that such a relationship will work in the long-term, probably because those qualities of ISTJs make them stable and reliable, but I may get bored with them after a while. Still, it's theoretical and if my guess of a particular person's MBTI is correct, they aren't that boring...they can be surprisingly fun once in a blue moon.

2. INFJ and ISFJ
How the relationship works: ISFJs and INFJs are naturally incredibly nurturing and will take incredibly good care of one another. They both are very empathetic and love to work things out in bad situations. ISFJs and INFJs both love to showcase their appreciation and service towards their mates. INFJs love nothing better than being appreciated an the ISFJ makes it known when an INFJ is making them happy. They will do best in a long-term relationship and are often an inspiration to those who know them.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs love to be relevant and interesting, so they have to prove to their mate that they are fascinating through little "tests". The ISFJ, however, probably won't take particular interest in such tests. Because they are both naturally quiet, they don't dig deep into each other's personalities often. INFJs can be cold and often feel numb, which confuses the ISFJ and may hurt their feelings. The ISFJ needs rules and often does not appreciate the INFJs intuitive nature.

How to keep it: The ISFJ in this relationship has to prove just how much they love their INFJ. The INFJ must be forgiving and open-minded with their ISFJ, accepting their differences. The INFJ must try their hardest not to be too stubborn and explain their feelings carefully. Since they both take things very personally, they should avoid personal insults when fighting and think carefully about every word said. With caution, this couple can thrive together.

My Opinion: Caution isn't exactly my strongest suit and it is a fact that my ISFJ friend and I seem to take pleasure in hurling insults at each other. Funny enough that both of us are overly sensitive, yet we insist on hurting each other. Perhaps it's a way of helping each other grow. Theoretically, I think I would be utter impatient with the ISFJ, because their dominant Si function makes it impossible for me to explain what my Ni has imparted to me. More often than not, I would probably just choose to keep quiet.

3. INFJ and ESTJ
How the relationship works: INFJs and ESTJs are both very giving and dedicated to their relationships, so they take care of one another very well and work hard to keep fires burning. They love to solve problems and value working things out with one another, so even if communication is a bit off, they try their best. The ESTJ's logical side gives INFJs a sense of clarity and security in the relationship, which is very important.

Why the relationship may not work out: ESTJs are often very bold and can intimidate the usually quiet INFJ. INFJs have many feelings that randomly surface and it can confuse and frustrate the ESTJ. INFJs don't like to be bossed around and because they are highly empathetic, they may find the ESTJ to be insensitive or cruel. The ESTJ may see the INFJ as too sensitive or boring.

How to keep it: ESTJs need to watch what they say and how they act, because the INFJ is easily damaged. INFJs need to be very, very clear and logical while explaining their feelings to the ESTJ. The ESTJ simply cannot boss the INFJ around and must watch their words carefully or explosive fights could break out. INFJs need to understand that ESTJs are not heartless and the ESTJs need to prove it. With communication, this couple is unstoppable.

My Opinion: I do know a particular ESTJ guy from quite long ago and I must say, I had absolutely no interest in him beyond being an acquaintance. It is true that I think he is extremely insensitive and cruel and it is also true that he tends to say things that hurt me, not knowing he did so. I think the problem with ESTJ is that their outer personality naturally repels me. It takes honest effort and conscious need for me to willingly approach an ESTJ and I think for an ESTJ, INFJ is just not interesting enough.

4. INFJ and ESFJ
How the relationship works: ESFJs make their INFJ mate feel incredibly important and will soothe their worries easily. The INFJ will feel safe and nurtured when an ESFJ is looking out for them. The INFJ will fascinate the ESFJ, like a puzzle that must be solved. The INFJ can usually read the ESFJ like a book and will enjoy the simplicity and laid-back nature of their relationship. The INFJ is very happy to come out of their shell for the ESFJ and they are very supportive of one another.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs get bored easily and don't like routines if they are not actively engaging. They are quickly frustrated with the ESFJ's logical way of thinking and often write them off as "slow". The ESFJ is very sensitive and definitely will take everything the INFJ says to heart, which is highly unhealthy. If they fight, both of their sensitive sides will clash and everyone will get hurt.

How to keep it: INFJs must be very careful with their actions and words when around their ESFJ partner and look carefully for certain triggers. ESFJs must try not to take everything to heart and must tolerate an INFJs words and actions reasonably. The INFJ needs to learn to appreciate what they DO have, most likely unconditional love. When they are careful with their words, this couple is truly beautiful together.

My Opinion: Yes, I agree that ESFJs are extremely easy to read, but that isn't a bad thing. It's probably because of this obviousness that INFJs are willing to open up to ESFJ - they know that if ESFJ's have ill intentions, it will not escape their intuition. I do agree that I'm comfortable confiding in the ESFJ, knowing that she will show compassion and while she will judge quite harshly, will never betray. Also, if she intends to betray, it's easy to tell anyway. Still, I think it's part of the INFJ personality to not confide anything unless asked...and even then, I may not tell. INFJs have serious trust issues.

5. INFJ and ISTP
How the relationship works: ISTPs think intuition and whim is very admirable and love to be taken on adventures. INFJs love to explain and show things to eager ISTPs, who will remember special details and make the INFJ feel unique. They are both very humorous people and they love to laugh and play. Because they both love to listen, trusting one another is easy. They are both a bit competitive, but mostly in a playful way.

Why the relationship may not work out: ISTPs are generally much more laid-back than the INFJs and will find their worrying and analysing very frustrating. ISTPs often have trouble wrapping their minds around just how deep an INFJ can be. Likewise, INFJs find ISTPs vapid and shallow often. They are both needy and clingy not letting go of one another. This can often lead to an unhealthy obsession. ISTPs like to be busy and probably won't make time for the INFJ, who enjoys quality time best of all.

How to keep it: INFJs need to take deep breaths, relax and trust that an ISTP can take care of them. ISTPs can, and most likely will, return the favour. INFJs have a light, playful side to them that they need to let show when they are around an ISTP. By reminding themselves daily why they love each other with gifts or words of confirmation, each member of the couple brings joy into one another's lives.

My Opinion: My mom is an ISTP and this is very true, actually. I do think my mom can be very shallow and judgemental, and has the tendency to be very clingy. I also find a lot of joy in explaining things that my mom doesn't know and I have quite a bit of knowledge in. Competition probably runs in the genes, so that's another thing. Still, I think maybe I wouldn't like an ISTP because of the busy part. My mom tends to bury herself in work to distract herself from stress, I'm quite the opposite. Because of that, the INFJ who values her ability to offer support and comfort would feel neglected when the ISTP doesn't turn to her for help.

6. INFJ and ISFP
How the relationship works: In this relationship, there are always things to talk about and do together. INFJs and ISFPs are intrigued with each other's depth and enjoy one another's company immensely. ISFPs live in the moment and its fun for an INFJ to experience that kind of lifestyle. They look after one another always and are very in tune with each other.

Why the relationship may not work out: They get bored with one another easily. Both have manipulative tendencies, but the INFJ will usually keep theirs under wraps unless seriously hurt. ISFPs can be backstabbers and INFJs find them immature often. ISFPs want to read the INFJ as they do other types, but the INFJ is too difficult to read most of the time. Frustration can quickly take hold of this relationship.

How to keep it: These two need to keep things fun and lively. ISFPs are not always willing to dedicate and must prove to their INFJ lover that they really are going to stick around. Trust issues will arise if INFJ feels uncertain of their love. As long as there is inspiration, the INFJ and the ISFP will get along in harmony and will always have things to talk about.

My Opinion: I don't know any ISFPs, but immaturity does piss me off. I dislike it when people react immaturely to situations and while that is quite hypocritical of me, I purposely do immature things. If a person's immaturity is meant for hurting others, like backstabbing, then it's extremely distasteful. Also, trust issues is something that can greatly impede an INFJ's relationship - platonic and romantic - and I think once ISFP gains distrust from INFJ, the INFJ is unlikely to forget. We forgive, but we don't forget - we don't want to be fooled twice.

7. INFJ and ENFP
How the relationship works: These two personalities have an intense and deep connection to one another. The INFJ will find the ENFP fun and exciting, while the ENFP will be fascinated with the INFJ's depth, interests and life story. They often become very best friends. Expect many long, deep conversations and a lot of dedication on both ends.

Why the relationship may not work out: The ENFP may get bored with the INFJ, thinking that they don't really care about what the ENFP has to say. The INFJ may think that the ENFP is vapid and doesn't actually care either. They are both highly sensitive and can get hurt by one another without even knowing it.

How to keep it: INFJs must be flexible and even though they have a lot of self-implemented rules and routines, must be willing to do some pretty spontaneous things from time to time. ENFPs must be focused and respectful of what the INFJ says. They must listen carefully to the INFJ. When this couple is untied as a team, their love is infectious.

My Opinion: I would think that I could get along brilliantly with an ENFP. While INFJs generally get annoyed over people who are overly scatterbrained in times requiring seriousness, ENFPs are a little different because of their "NF" typing. While ENFPs may seem overly laid-back, INFJs are aware that an ENFP who cares is well aware of their feelings and can be relied upon to react intuitively and appropriately. Still, ENFPs probably don't know they have overstepped an INFJ's boundaries until they've already crossed it. Nonetheless, they may still be one of the best matches for INFJs.

8. INFJ and INFJ
How the relationship works: Two heads are better than one. When these personalities meet, they completely understand one another and are intrigued at such a rare, blessed occurrence (male INFJs < 1% of population). They are nurturing, trusting and dedicated. They will take very good care of each other and will succeed in any kind of relationship so long as it is long-lasting.

Why the relationship may not work out: They understand what gets under the other's skin. They understand one another so well that they could simply be the death of each other. They are both stubborn and they both hold a grudge, which means that if fighting starts it may never end. Both are manipulative, they could hurt each other more deeply than almost any other two types could.

How to keep it: Tolerance. When these two don't agree, they must resist their burning urge to argue and working things out in a peaceful manner. If they can achieve peace, this couple is perfection.

My Opinion: Considering that I utterly dislike myself and think that I have horrible character, I would not want to entertain the idea of dealing with another me. It is unsettling to know someone can read me so accurately and the other person will probably think so too. Best for an INFJ to stay away from an INFJ...which is not difficult to do. We are extremely rare after all.

9. INFJ and INFP
How the relationship works: These two understand one another like nothing else and feel a strong connection. They are intrigued with one another's lives and can talk for hours on end. They are both totally willing to go on crazy adventures and always have a lot of fun together. They are both highly nurturing and care for one another in a beautiful fashion.

Why the relationship may not work out: The INFJ and INFP will encourage bad habits in one another simply because they are both so supportive. The INFP may find the INFJ too judgemental or critical and the INFJ may find the INFP to be immature.

How to keep it: These two lovers must learn to accept one another's differences and understand that they cannot change one another. Once they realise this crucial fact, they can work out almost anything together. It is unlikely for them to fall out of love.

My Opinion: In contrast, I think I may dislike an INFP a lot. For one, I'm not for the type of person whose head is so high up in the clouds that they lack the necessary amount of pragmatism for survival. INFJs are idealistic, but INFPs bring it to an extreme that they probably just blind themselves to reality. They may be one of the only types that understand INFJs, but it doesn't mean that they make good partners. INFPs are unstable and unreliable when it comes down to it, lacking the kind of last-minute initiative that INFJs are bound to have even in the worst situations. Still, for a friendship, INFP is probably one of the best choices.

10. INFJ and ENTP
How the relationship works: These two are electric together. They are both very self-aware and deep, and will enjoy lots of long conversations. Both logical and cautious, they can talk everything out with one another and will trust the other one carefully. They enjoy spending quality time together, no matter the activity and care very careful not to trample on one another's feelings.

Why the relationship may not work out: The often intuitive, extroverted ENTP may intimidate or downright frighten the often quiet, anxious INFJ. The pair will also have the tendency to overanalyse each other and instead of reading between the lines, will just hurt one another's feelings.

How to keep it: The ENTP has to be very gentle and cautious with the INFJ until trust is earned on both ends of the deal. They must try to communicate carefully and not overanalyse things the other one says. If they can do this, their relationship is truly admirable.

My Opinion: Although in my group of friends, my relationship with the ENTP may seem less deep than others, in my opinion, she is probably the one person who can read me accurately without me having to reveal much. It was very unnerving at first, how she was so intuitive, but I had quickly come to appreciate that intuition of hers. In contrast to an ENFP, whose method of comforting an INFJ may be through appealing to emotions, ENTP comforts an INFJ by using logic and bringing the INFJ back to earth. In my opinion, an ENTP is the best match for INFJ...except I know no male ENTPs.

11. INFJ and ESTP
How the relationship works: ESTPs love to take their companions on adventures and will surprise their INFJ with small gifts and gestures. The INFJ loves to nurture and the ESTP just can't get enough of their kind, caring spirit. The INFJ is an excellent listener and an ESTP can pour their heart and soul out to one easily. They often find themselves to be best friends.

Why the relationship may not work out: ESTPs usually have trouble settling down and staying dedicated while the INFJ is always searching for clarity and closure. An ESTP may be flighty in a relationship and may make jokes that the carefully-trusting INFJ just can't take. The ESTP is generally very social, but INFJs need lots of time alone to regenerate. This can cause a lot of confusion and frustration. ESTPs will constantly urge the INFJ out of their shell and it may make the INFJ feel distrusted.

How to keep it: ESTPs need to make sure that they are dedicated to the relationship and want it to be long-lasting before doing anything else, because most INFJs have strong emotional attachments that can't be tampered with. Then, the couple will need to work on communication and work out some sort of system for getting along. If they can work together, they can prove to the world that opposites can really attract.

My Opinion: Although I don't know any ESTPs, I have a feeling that there is one around me and we just don't have common ground. ESTPs are flighty and I dislike flighty people, because it means they can't be trusted. I'll certainly be willing to listen and accept an ESTP's rantings, providing support where needed, but I would have an extra thick wall built around my feelings and thoughts. I understand it is a preference of the ESTP to be flighty and non-committal and I respect that, so I expect the ESTP to respect that because of that, I cannot trust them and will not get close to them.

12. INFJ and ENTJ
How the relationship works: These two personality types are both prone to ration and logic, and make great decisions when their heads are put together. The authoritative ENTJ will probably make most decisions in the relationship, but if they have earned the INFJ's trust, it is a very good idea to be organised that way. An INFJ will feel safe and secure, while the ENTJ will feel appreciated and trusted. Both intelligent and responsible, they usually make great, safe decisions throughout their relationships.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs are very sensitive to criticism and ENTJs consider that simply a part of everyday life. If the ENTJ is not careful they could easily hurt the INFJs feelings and an INFJ is very likely to hold long-lasting grudges. ENTJs can also begin to find the usually quiet INFJs boring, while an INFJ may consider an ENTJ brash and cruel. When these two fight, they do not hold back, INFJs can manipulation ENTJs easily most of the time and their expectations in a romantic relationships are often much too high for an ENTJ to fulfill.

How to keep it: Despite both type's tendencies to be rational, they sure don't show it when fighting or holding grudges. In any situation where ideals clash, they need to take a step back and talk reasonable with one another. The ENTJ needs to be gentle and nurturing in order to get an INFJ out of their shell and cannot demand. Likewise, the INFJ needs to try not to idolise their partner, as they are prone to do and accept their faults. The ENTJ may lead the way, but if they intimidate the INFJ, things can never go right. Communication will be the key to pulling through and securing a wonderful relationship.

My Opinion: I think ENTJs will make great bosses, but not someone I want to know personally. ENTJs are quite judgemental, quick to criticise and very bossy. INFJs think that while judgements should be made, they must be changed on occasion and don't take criticisms well. Also, INFJs aren't a leader type or a follower type, but more of a lone wolf. In other words, I think this is a terrible matchup.

13. INFJ and ENFJ
How the relationship works: Both types are very nurturing, warm and thoughtful. They have a deep, intense connection and will almost always make time for one another. The ENFJ's warm, accepting nature makes it easy for the INFJ to come out of their shell. Meanwhile, the INFJ's self-knowing nature can teach an ENFJ to take time for themselves. An INFJ can really teach an ENFJ who they truly are inside.

Why the relationship may not work out: An ENFJ may get disheartened with an INFJ's quiet nature and may find them to be cold at times. ENFJs don't usually need as much time to regenerate as an INFJ and it may make them feel unloved or unappreciated. Meanwhile, the INFJ can often feel as though an ENFJ is prying and that makes them feel exposed.

How to keep it: Both types need to be sensitive and intimate towards one another in order to get their relationship off the ground. ENFJs need to accept INFJs as they come and INFJs need to be patient with ENFJs. They are simply curious most of the time and such curiosity can drive their lives to be a fantastic adventure.

My Opinion: I've read the saying somewhere that "INFJs are the world's counsellors, but who counsels the INFJ? ENFJ does that. ENFJs are the world's teachers, but who teaches the ENFJ? INFJ is the best for that." That's probably quite true but in my absolute cynicism right now, I would like to point out -- I'm sorry, get their relationship off the ground? I think it's buried two million feet underground right now, I can't see it.

14. INFJ and INTJ
How the relationship works: INTJs and INFJs are very intuitive and can relate to one another in a lot of ways. They are both generally very caring people and will nurture each other and help one another to blossom. They are very in-tune to one another's emotions and tend to each other's needs with utter selflessness.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs are generally moody and emotional, which can really confuse the usually peaceful INTJ. INFJs like to express things through feelings and this can frustrate an INTJ, who just wants things to be explained rationally.

How to keep it: INFJs need to remember to explain things in concise, rational manner in order to provide clarity to a sensitive INTJ. Likewise, INTJs need to be accepting and reasonable when an INFJ is having a bad day. When they work together as a team, they can make this happen easily and their relationship is almost effortless.

My Opinion: I don't know what to say, because the one male INTJ I know is the world's most insensitive and uncaring person. It's not even a personal grudge, it's a totally justified conclusion based on the fact that I can generate a list of evidence on command. The one male INTJ I know is highly unsympathetic to the suffering of others, going so far as to mock and laugh at it, which to an INFJ feels extremely inappropriate and disgusting. INFJs, like all NFs, feel others' emotions deeply and care for them, so an INTJ like that can pose to be a complete opposition to their ideals. However, I have many female INTJ friends and they are all very caring and comforting people. I'm not really sure then.

15. INFJ and INTP
How the relationship works: This pair is honest and trusting of one another. They guard each other's secrets dutifully and carefully, nurturing one another well. INTPs love logical correctness and truth, and make connections that INFJs are simply spellbound by. INFJs inspire the INTP with their wish to do good and their ability to understand abstract concepts. The pair is very in tune with one anotherm and they love one another on a very deep level.

Why the relationship may not work out: INFJs love to read people and the INTP really does not like to get read. They don't feel there needs to be a motivation behind their actions. They can annoy one another easily with miscommunication in situations.

How to keep it: Communication can be a difficult task for this couple, but so long as they consistently work on it and are able to keep their promises, things will flow smoothly and peacefully.

My Opinion: Once again, I know one male INTP and he's nothing like that. This time, it's my dad. My dad absolutely mocks any attempt on my part to do good in the world, dismissing such goals as immature and unworthy. He pursues material success and believes that human relationships exist so we can take advantage of everyone. Still, the few INTP female friends I have prove him to be an anomaly while they follow the general trend. They dislike to be read and while I think it is inherently an INFJ's nature to read people, I have learnt to pretend that I have not read anything.

16. INFJ and ESFP
How the relationship works: INFJs and ESFPs intrigue one another to a wild extent. The ESFP is kindhearted and will take the eager INFJ on countless adventures. Both fascinated by the world, these two will never run out of things to talk about. While the INFJ doesn't always show it, they are both very flirty and have a tone of fun simply being together.

Why the relationship may not work out: ESFPs aren't always super dedicated about relationships and just love a good time. They can often view INFJs as clingy. INFJs also need to build a lot of trust with a person and ESFPs don't understand why the build-up is necessary. INFJs may put up walls away from their ESFP partner because they feel exposed. INFJs often feel frustrated because they believe that ESFPs lack depth, while ESFPs often view INFJs as completely neurotic. INFJs think that ESFPs are immature at times, and ESFPs think that INFJs simply need to lighten up.

How to keep it: Both sides of this relationship need to consider it seriously. INFJs usually want a long-term, dedicated relationship, while most ESFPs want a short-term, fun relationship. If both parties agree on one kind of relationship, the next step is to get real with one another. ESFPs need to take special care to make sure that their INFJ never feels unsafe or vulnerable. ESFPs need to learn how to get serious, while INFJs need to learn to trust that ESFPs have them covered. INFJs have a good sense of humour and letting it shine is especially beneficial for this relationship. INFJs need to have patience and know that ESFPs simply aren't as "deep" as they want their mate to be, while ESFPs need to comfort an INFJ's worries and depressive states of mind. Life isn't always a party, but if this couple makes it through, anything is possible.

My Opinion: I don't know any ESFPs, but going with the usual SF and NF compatibility generalisation, I would soon get frustrated by the ESFP's inability to look below the surface. On top of that, they are Extroverted, which makes it even more impossible for me to like an ESFP because they aren't that trustworthy. Maybe they can be trusted, but you know us INFJs, we can't trust anyone.

Conclusions on Best Matches:
1. ENTP - INFJ
2. ENFP - INFJ
3. ENFJ - INFJ
All 3 types possess the ability to understand the INFJ's complex inner workings. However, ENTP and ENFP both stand a better chance because of their use of Ne instead of ENFJ's Ni, which allows them greater ability to perceive the INFJ's problems without intrusion. That is also the ENFJ's disadvantage, because an ENFJ lacks the ability to understand without prying and any amount of prying can cause INFJ to be extremely suspicious, especially since we can see the questioning coming before you approach. It's a fight or flight response.

Furthermore, ENTPs and ENFPs are more decisive and are better equipped at dealing with the INFJ's problems. While ENFJ can understand the problem after a while, they are unable to make a decision on how to tackle it. ENTPs apply logic and drag INFJs back to earth using that logic -- which unlike other T types isn't cold, hard logic. ENFPs try to brighten up the INFJs day with their natural optimism, using emotions rather than logic. ENFJs just don't know what to do and with the prying they had done before, it's unlikely that the INFJ will give them the opportunity to try anything.

In fact, it has been identified that the key reason for an INFJ to be unable to find a partner is due to their trust issues.
