I'm not exactly proud of it, but I did take a whole day of break today from doing work. I feel like I need it, after having pushed myself through a few days of intense mugging, but I don't feel like I deserve it. I suppose my friend was right - Prelims did slap me really hard in the face. It was the kind of feeling I got during the paper. No, I wasn't unprepared to the point that I was helpless. I was as prepared as I had ever been for any paper, but I know that that's not enough. And then I look forward at the person sitting in front of me - its always a hardworking person. I felt guilty, and then I felt impatient with myself. How long do I plan to stand here while everyone else overtakes me? What right do I have to cry over my results when I did not put in even 10% of the effort they put in?
Still, I know when I have to stop and take a break. I've had friends who were so hardworking that they sleep only 2-3 hours everyday for 3 months straight before even the Prelims. No, they didn't even try multitasking - watching Youtube and doing work at the same time - like I always do. They literally work 24/7. However, even though I have immense respect for people like that, I find that rather foolish, because it is rather impractical for humans with normal levels of stamina to persevere for that long. Also, they collapsed before the exam and their health got in the way of their rewards. In Chinese, that is called 事倍功半, which means to put in a lot of effort to get a less than proportionate amount of reward. It's like...having an elastic demand or something. Ok, that's a stupid analogy.
Anyway, I think taking Literature has ruined my fanfiction reading experience. I was reading the following extract:
"The woman in front of me, she was like a turbulent river, cascading around me and trapping me in the rapid currents of her passion; like a wild forest fire, scorching and engulfing my very spirit. But my wife, the one holding my hand so gently next to me, she was by distinct contrast, the calm surfacing of a stagnant pond, emitting the warmth of a small hearth-fire." It is quite nicely-written, up to my demands on the language skills of a fanfiction author, but I cannot seem to get the picture of Ellen Olenska and May Welland from The Age of Innocence out of my head. Granted, the main character is nothing like Newland Archer, since he is the keyword I used to search up the fanfiction anyway. I cannot separate the characters of the two women in the fanfiction from the two in the novel I'm studying. It also doesn't help that while this author has done a good job with maintaining a respectable standard for the language use in his/her story, he/she has managed to make the female characters extremely OOC. For those unaccustomed to the terms used fanfiction, OOC means "Out of Character".
But I didn't stick much to this idea and instead went on to thinking more about the content of the extract. So just like Newland Archer, this character is married to a woman who he does love, but with less of a passionate kind of love than he has for this other woman. Since the situation is so similar, I'll just discuss it in relation with Ellen Olenska and May Welland, the former of which is the woman Newland Archer has an affair with and the latter of which is his wife (taking from the second part of the novel).
Now, in the given context that he is already married, then I have no qualms or hesitations in saying that he is completely in the wrong and that he should have no choice between the two women. It has nothing to do with marriage being a sacred institution, ordained by God, or whatever religious people preach. I am someone who proudly develops her values based on observations and experiences, rather than inherited values that are blindly and doggedly followed "just because" they are there. Instead, I think of marriage as a promise. I don't think that anyone should break a promise - because in the first place, you made the decision of making that promise.
What I mean is that, in any situation where you created the ultimate conditions for failure, you are then responsible for failure. In other words, in The Age of Innocence, when May Welland offers Newland Archer a chance to leave her for this affair she suspects him of being involved in, Newland Archer made an active decision. His decision to stay on in the engagement and to even push it forward created the conditions of a marriage that binds him to May. He wasn't forced into making that "promise", so when he broke it, it is his fault.
Think of it this way. If you promised your friend that you would keep notes for her, then it would be wrong of you to not keep notes for her. However, if you didn't make that promise and you didn't make notes for her, then you can't be blamed for your shortcomings, because you didn't take on the obligation to fulfill that duty.
Let's move away from discussing the rightness of the main character's decision. As for the fanfiction, I have not yet reached the part of his decision and since I am extremely biased towards him, I'm most likely to not impose as much blame on him as I did on Newland Archer. Newland Archer...he represents, to me, the most obnoxious and retarded kind of guy. He is referred to as "intelligent" in the introduction and that is the most blasphemous thing I've read.
Another thing to discuss would be the decision itself. The fire and ice motif, or the contrast between passionate love and comforting love. In the fanfiction, the main character does say that he loves his wife, but is unable to find the same passion in her - "As hard I wished it, my heart never skipped a beat in her presence, but when she laid her hand on me comfortingly, she could calm me instantly." I prefer the imagery in the fanfiction more, to be honest, because the author is doing a better comparison - contrasts become ironically more distinct when it is seen between two things of a similar quality.
Personally, I would always choose the passionate love over the comforting love. It makes me seem a little hedonistic, but it's not because I'm current high on hormones or anything like that. It's just that the alternative scares me. The idea of stagnation always scares me. When you are stuck in a situation that is deceptively comfortable and peaceful in comparison to whatever reality is in the outside world, you end up becoming trapped. And what is scarier is that it is a trap of your own creation. When a person becomes contented with what they have and believe that they cannot be happier than they already are, they lose the human impulse to want to improve and strive for more. It is the lack of something that creates the movement towards obtaining it.
Think about it, when you really desired something like a game, or score on an exam, everything in your being becomes focused on it and your consciousness pushes you to pursue it. However, the moment you attain it, you lose that kind of drive, not just in pursuing that one goal, but in general. This quite an interesting human phenomenon.
No, it's not something that I read from a book. If everything you know about the world is only obtained from reading, then you aren't going to be too smart. Books assist learning, most of my knowledge is obtained through careful thinking and then double checking to see if my deductions are correct. Therefore, when people throw me links to documents the moment I start discussing a certain psychological phenomenon, I automatically assume that the person must be incredibly stiff in the brain. I like to create and generate theories by pingponging ideas off people who are equally apt at using their own brain to figure things out. I do not want to discuss an idea with a document, because if that's what I'm supposed to do, why the hell am I even talking to you?
Anyway, my whole point is that, a person who creates passion is also more likely to create a thrust factor in your life (no pun intended, *cough cough*). It is, after all, the warmth of the hearth-fire isn't going to propel you to move anywhere and you are more likely to just lay down and enjoy the warmth. The burn of the forest fire will make you run instead. Similarly, the stagnant pool of water is filled with water that is calm and never-moving, but is known as "dead water" in Chinese for a reason. In contrast, the river will bring you down its course and you have to fight the white water rapids in order not to drown. What is the point of life if you are just going to be content and stagnate? Keep moving forward and never stop wanting to move forward. That should be the way to go.
So I'll actually encourage him to leave his wife for the other woman? Hell yeah. Especially since in the fanfiction, it is an arranged marriage, so it removes my given clause of an "active decision".
Now for FamilyJules7x's covers and some Pokemon remixes by GlitchxCity. I seem to have unlimited respect for people who have talent in things they are passionate about. What? That's everyone? That's not true. I have met people who are content just doing whatever they are told and whatever other people want them to do. It's frigging disgusting, if you ask me. Why were you born as a human if you have less individual autonomy than a dog? I mean, you can be agreeable, but damn, have something that you love and pursue with a passion!
I absolutely love the Elder Scrolls and while I didn't like Morrowind as much when I first started it, I began loving it too after adapting to the game style. It was refreshing to not have a fast travel system and having to know which Silt Strider, boat and teleporter brought you to which town. It was also cool that each faction had their own skill requirements, so that a Paladin decked out in full Heavy Armour won't be in the Thieves' Guild for no damn reason. It made me feel like Oblivion was easy and Skyrim was for babies. Increasing the difficulty by like 10 in Morrowind is much much harder than the laughable Master Difficulty on Skyrim. If you play anywhere below Adept on Skyrim, shame on you. That said, I cheat on every second playthrough of Morrowind with official bugs.
Ecruteak/Cianwood City Pokemon GSC Guitar Cover
To be fair, I really hated both Ecruteak City and Cianwood City, because I used to do the segment from Goldenrod right up to Mahogany City and back to Goldenrod for Team Rocket at one go. And if you ever played the games, if you didn't shame on you, then you know that segment takes a frigging long time. It gets extremely frustrating, especially since I have the memory of playing with Typhlosion, I bloody hate the back sprite of Typhlosion for some reason.

Majora's Mask Medley
Can someone say, favourite Zelda to watch someone play through? I love the dark atmosphere the game has that is rarely seen in E-rated games nowadays. And the music is phenomenal. Now, I don't really like playing it myself because it gets quite tedious after a while, but still, I love Majora's Mask. For playing...I still like my standard 2D Zelda.
GlitchxCity Pokeball Factory XY
I think Pokeball Factory has some of the best music I've heard in Pokemon games, and this is coming from an ardent fan of Generation III with RSE and the ORAS remakes. I do want to get XY, just for the Pokemon, but then I'll prefer a Japanese version, which is more expensive, so I can evolve both Pokemon via trade and do Masuda breeding method efficiently.
Primal Dialga Mystery Dungeons: Explorers of Darkness/Time/Sky
I'm sorry, Rayquaza, but I prefer the second generation of Mystery Dungeon games to the first, even though you were the final boss of the first generation of games. You can't tell me that Primal Dialga is badass as hell, and while I am biased towards Dialga, vs Palkia, I think Dialga is just a cool Pokemon in general. I always play as the same Pokemon though. Not Riolu, I hate Riolu. Treecko and Mudkip all the way. Agility + Mud-slap + Violent Seed set-up is very broken indeed.
Eterna Forest DPPt
Most people don't like Eterna Forest, or don't even remember it. Every single Pokemon generation has its own forest - Viridian in Gen I, Ilex in Gen II, Petalburg Woods in Gen III, etc etc. The reason I like Eterna Forest is very simple and quite a shallow reason. Murkrow. It's the first place in the game that you can catch Murkrow and I've already expressed my love for the extremely cool-looking Honchkrow.
Meteor Falls RSE/ORAS
You can't tell me that Meteor Falls isn't just absolutely beautiful. Even in the old games, I was in awe of this place.
Oh, why Salamence? If you didn't know (shame on you again), after you obtain the HM for Waterfall, after the defeating the final gym and just before the Victory Road, you can assess the back chamber of Meteor Falls. There, on the mere 20 patches of dry land, you can encounter the only Bagons you can find in the entire bloody game. It was a pain in my butt to train even with the new Exp Share system in Gen VI, so you can imagine how absolutely painful it was to train one in RSE. I would rather settle for a Flygon, even though it's much shittier, especially with Salamencite in ORAS. Speaking of Mega Salamence, frigging Zinnia, why do you have a Uber in your team. I call cheating.
I'm actually making really good time on my revision, though my hand really hurts after practising Economics Essays all day. I've never done such hardcore mugging in my whole life, but since A levels is in 5 weeks or so, there hasn't been a better time than now. Still, I managed to sneak in a little bit of gaming time. Seriously, I don't even want to go back to school. I see no point in it, besides going through the papers, since I've always appreciated independent self-studying. It gives me an advantage, because I am more self-sufficient than most, while being less able to utilise school-given resources such as teachers. I've said it before. If exams were things you were only given 1 week to prepare for, with no assistance at all, then I have no doubt that I'll round up in the top percentage. It would be unfair though...and rather arrogant of me.
Anyway, I made some progress on my backup file on Pokemon ORAS. Okay, it's Pokemon Omega Ruby. I don't have Alpha Sapphire. I'm not that rich...or that careless with money. Also, whoop-de-doo, I'm a girl and I know how to make backup save files for my games that are NOT on Steam, because Steam is nice and does the backup for you (although sometimes it doesn't frigging port properly). It's actually very simply and it would be really stupid if you can't figure out just by examining your 3DS. You must be like...super tech un-savvy to not be able to tell what you need and the different methods for backup.
So on that particular save file, I started with Treecko...because I wanted a main team that I can easily breed for competitive use. I'm not a famous Streamer or Youtuber or anything, so it's difficult for me to gain excess to all the Pokemon listed in the Pokedex, or get perfect IV shiny Pokemon. It takes intensive breeding, hours of DexNav usage, etc etc and the least I can do for myself is to get a starter that actually can be used competitively.
Blaziken is banned and since I don't want to soft reset for months on a Legendary to get perfect IVs, I am not playing Ubers. Swampert is popular, I know, but I've said before that I don't like running through the game with painfully slow Pokemon. Also, I like to have a useful ability when I Mega-evolve my starter. You can't expect me to bring Rain Dance everywhere, or detach the rain from Route 119 and Route 120 and place it around the whole of Hoenn. Also, I am playing Omega Ruby, meaning that the overriding weather effect during the Groudon event is Sun, not Rain. Furthermore, the best teammate for Swampert as a Rain Dance user is Ludicolo, but that is Alpha Sapphire exclusive. That said, I do have a Lotad I got recently in a Wonder Trade, but I am not going to sit at the beginning of the game for hours, catching Ralts and Wonder Trading, praying for good RNG.
Right now, my team is mostly competitive in structure. I don't have the best movesets and if you have ever played an actual game without cheating, you know why. You can have a frigging Mega Sceptile whose best move is Leaf Blade because Leaf Storm is at Level 69. Also, I had people ask me why the hell I run certain moves on certain Pokemon in an actual run-through of a game, hack or no hack (Hint: I'm referring to an occurrence while talking about a hack). Don't be idiotic. I know Close Combat is flipping awesome, but it has base 5 PP. It is not going to last you a lug through a whole route! I know Flare Blitz is boss, but recoil is NOT appreciated when the main game prioritises stamina over power. So without further ranting, this is what my current team looks like at Level 50.
1. Sceptile/Mega Sceptile
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Overgrow/Lightning Rod
Moves: Leaf Blade, Dual Chop, Hidden Power Fire, X-Scissor
I know, I know. I should be running Adamant or Jolly since it looks like a Physical Attacker, but like I said, this is NOT competitive. I mean, it doesn't even have perfect IVs and it will be used for breeding once I finish the game. I reset for a female Treecko with either +Attack or +Special Attack without reduction is either. In other words, I needed a female Treecko with Naughty, Lonely, Mild or Rash nature.
Why female? Because when breeding two Pokemon of different species, the child takes the species of the mother. Why different species? Well, you don't know much about breeding then, which is a very intricate process. Given that I obtain a lot of Pokemon through Wonder Trade, I'll probably get a Pokemon in the same Egg group as Treecko - Dragon or Monster 1 - from a different region. I'm using the Masuda Breeding Method, which you can research about yourself. Basically, the method dictates that if you breed two Pokemon of the same egg group from different regions (i.e. from the French version, German version, etc), the chances of obtaining a Shiny is higher.
Why Sceptile? Well, it works brilliantly with my Manectric, which has Discharge. Why not Thunderbolt? Are you daft? I don't get to CHOOSE what my Pokemon learn levelling up. I've got to live with what I'm given. Since there are so many double battles, these two make a great pair. Discharge gets absorbed by Lightning Rod which boosts Special Attack, which will become very useful once I get Leaf Storm and breed for Dragon Pulse.
2. Gardevoir
Nature: Mild
Ability: Synchronise
Moves: Psychic, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind
Yes, after I got a whole box of Ralts just after starting the game, I finally settled for a Mild Ralts. I did get a Modest and a Timid one, but they didn't have 2 stars on the DexNav. For those who don't know, the DexNav will show a certain number of stars for a Pokemon you are searching for, from 0 to 3, indicating the number of perfect IVs the Pokemon has. I haven't checked what my Gardevoir has perfect IVs in, but it's better than nothing. Also, if you have ever played through ORAS, you know that Ralts and Kirlia are a pain in the ass to train. They have extremely low EXP gain rates and are very weak (attack and defence), until it evolves into Gardevoir at level 30 and get Psychic and start wrecking everyone.
Don't you dare ask me why not Moonblast. If you would like to tell me how to get Moonblast on my Gardevoir, just after reaching Mossdeep City, please let me know. If not, shut up, and let me just be happy about having Dazzling Gleam over Draining Kiss (that base 50 power was giving me cancer). I will be getting the Gardevoirite from Wanda in Verdanturf Town, but that comes after the Groudon event, along with a lot of other Mega Stones.
3. Infernape (via Wonder Trade)
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Iron Fist
Moves: Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Close Combat, Mach Punch
So my lucky ass got an Iron Fist Chimchar from Wonder Trading a box full of Ralts. I feel pretty bad for the person who got that shitty Ralts while distributing his perfect IV hidden ability Chimchar. Hey, but I was all concerned about how the hell I was going to deal with getting a Fire type since I didn't want those slow Fire types that are available in the game (Torkoal, Camerupt, Marcargo). Also, this thing came with Thunder Punch and Fire Punch. Like holy RNG-sus, thank you! The only problem with this piece of shit is that it levels up way too fast, with Infernape's naturally moderate EXP gain rates and the boosted EXP from being a traded Pokemon.
4. Gyarados (Shiny!)
Nature: Hasty
Ablity: Intimidate
Moves: Aqua Tail, Ice Fang, Crunch, Dragon Dance
Yes, Aqua Tail, because I still have a while to go until I get my HM for Waterfall. I'm not sure how to get Bounce on Gyarados either, probably an egg move or something, but for now this is nice. This is probably my go-to for the Delta Episode against Zinnia's full Dragon team. Anyway, this isn't luck from RNG-sus, if anyone knows anything about the Generation VI fishing mechanics. It's this thing called Chain Fishing.
Chain Fishing happens when you stand still on one patch of water and keep successfully fishing. It's not as easy as it sounds. Firstly, there is a possibility of getting the message "nothing is biting" or something like that, which breaks your chain. That is super frustrating. Having a Pokemon with Sticky Hold can raise the chances of getting a bite, but even that isn't 100%. Another thing is that you cannot miss a catch, which is actually harder than it sounds. Then, you cannot move, at all. Chain Fishing is the phenomenon where when you do whatever I said above for 20-100 times, you start getting shinies. I got a Shiny on my 97th try, which is actually really bad RNG.
I do have a Gyaradosite, but I actually prefer regular Gyarados. Mold Breaker isn't that useful in the main game.
5. Manectric/Mega Manectric
Nature: Mild
Ability: Lightning Rod/Intimidate
Moves: Discharge, Volt Switch, Overheat, Hidden Power Grass
Yes, once again, RNG-sus is kind and I got a good Hidden Power. I always end up with Ice or Grass, which are the best ones for Manectric. This is my other commonly used Mega, my other Intimidate-user and other Lightning Rod. It's actually quite cool because if I have to switch into a powerful Electric move with Gyarados out on the field and my Sceptile is not Mega evolved, then I can just send Manectric in to get a Special Attack boost. If I need a second Intimidate on a powerful Physical attacker, I can just Mega evolve and Volt Switch out into Gardevoir or something. Volt Switch is the TM given by Wattson, by the way. I think I do get Thunderbolt from him later on, but not yet as of now.
So yes, my team is actually pretty awesome. 2 Intimidate users and since Defiant and Competitive are rare in-game, it's a brilliant strategy. One of them is a Physical attacker in Gyarados, while the other is Special, in Manectric. I have 2 Special Attackers in Manectric and Gardevoir, 2 Physical in Infernape and Gyarados and one mixed, in Sceptile. Why is the 6th slot empty? Two reasons. 1. In anticipation for Bagon, once I get Waterfall and gain excess to the back chamber of Meteor Falls. 2. Because I refuse to let my main Pokemon learn useless HMs. I wouldn't even let Gyarados learn Surf. I have Surf, Cut, Rock Smash and Strength on Linoone (it's Pickup is great too). Fly and Surf is also on Pelipper for travelling around. After that, I'll probably get a Wailmer for Rock Smash, Surf, Dive and Strength for underwater segments. I usually plan my team very well, after all. I'm pretty damn proud of it.
I feel like Math Paper 2, i.e. the statistics paper, is that kind of paper that becomes easier as you practise it. And so, that's what I've been doing the past three days...at a quite rigorous pace, in fact. It's not to say that Paper 1 doesn't require practice, but I've noticed that most people find Paper 2 to be easier to understand than Paper 1. Since my niche, per se, when it comes to studying lies in understanding things almost immediately as they are taught, Paper 2 becomes a disadvantage because I am less differentiated from the rest. In other words, because Paper 2 is easy in theory, I can't just use my theoretical knowledge to pull me forward.
But I'm taking a break tonight, only to resume tomorrow. It's just Correlation and Regression, which is much much easier than Permutations and Combinations, which can be very confusing and requires a lot of systematic thinking, or Hypothesis Testing, for which the formula is very easy to remember, but H2 Math brings along an element of needing to understand. After all, if you are given the choice of using a z-test and t-test, there is already the minimum requirement of understanding when and why each test should be used. Still, I need to go through the topic and familiarise myself, so that I can have more than for P&C and figuring out how many millions of ways I can sit people around 3 differently shaped tables. ...Honestly, what is the practical reason behind learning this topic...besides to train systematic logical thinking? It's not like I'm going into business of arranging people in a line, or letters into words. In fact, these words aren't even real words...just made up gibberish of letters.
Anyway, onto the topic of today. My preference of Pokemon game versions and the reasoning behind it. Often, my reasoning comes from the version exclusive Pokemon, which also affects the starter I get to choose, because I am very annoyed with overlapping types. Things like double Ground types are fine, but double Fire/Water/Grass is a problem to me. Of course, in certain games, e.g. Emerald/Sapphire, I don't mind two Water types because they don't share weaknesses, i.e. Swampert with Ludicolo, but for the most part, I go by which version has a Pokemon I want and the resulting starter I can choose. I'll structure this part by generations, with the latest game as the basis of comparison.
Pokemon Version Preferences 1. Generation I - Pokemon FireRed vs Pokemon LeafGreen (RBY Remake)
b) Version Preference
Well, since most of the version exclusives can only be obtained after the Elite Four, my version preference is determined by the first few Pokemon listed. Pokemon FireRed is the preferred version and it comes down to Arcanine vs Ninetales and Vileplume/Bellosom vs Victreebel. While I admit that I prefer Victreebel over Vileplume because it is faster and more aggressive, I like Arcanine way more than Ninetales. Ninetales was good back in the original games, because its Special stat, which combined Special Attack and Special Defense, as well as Speed was high. However, when the new generations came, it got a high Special Defense and Speed instead. Which makes no sense. Arcanine is a relatively good Special Attacker and Physical Attacker and while it is mediocre in the current generation, those kind of stats were quite impressive back in the day of Generation III, i.e. the remake generations.
Once upon a time too, Arcanine used to be one of my Top 3 favourite Pokemon, before Weavile and Greninja kicked it out by taking 3rd and 2nd respectively. It's the mixture of a wolf and a sabre cat, what's not cool about it? Furthermore, its species is typed as Legendary Pokemon...it's not even pseudo-legendary by game standards, but earns that species name? That's impressive.
2. Generation I - Pokemon HeartGold vs Pokemon Soulsilver (GSC Remake)
b) Version Preference
Once again, the reason for the version preference is partly because of Arcanine. However, for a larger part, the problem isn't because I like Arcanine over Ninetales. It's because of the rarity of Fire Pokemon in the two versions and my strong preference of Feraligatr over Typhlosion. It's surprising, because back in Primary School, many of my friends and classmates played Pokemon and it was a widely regarded trend that girls preferred Fire starters and boys preferred Water starters. However, apart from Blaziken, my favourite has always been the Water starter (especially Feraligatr, Empoleon and Greninja). Yes, Arcanine does play a part in the choice, but you know, I could pick Feraligatr and Ninetales. The difference is that in HeartGold, I can replace my Fire Pokemon with Ho-Oh. Yes, I'm such a noob, using legendaries, but seriously, there are so few Fire Pokemon lines (the only other accessible one is Flareon, and I prefer Jolteon/Espeon). So the mascot for this preference is Feraligatr and Ho-Oh.
Feraligatr is also Silver's choice of starter in the Pokemon Adventures Manga series and Silver happens to be my favourite character, in both the games and the manga. Okay, I do like Zinnia from ORAS a lot too, and N, for being all philosophical throughout BW and BW2, but honestly...ORAS has too many things I like...and I dislike Generation V the most. BW always seemed to frustrate me because I found it to be ultra boring...mostly because I liked none of the Pokemon in the first routes.
I like Ho-Oh more than Lugia. Sue me. It seemed to me back when I first played Gold and Silver that most people preferred Lugia's design. I don't know why. I was the rare kind of player who liked Ho-Oh's design more (stats and competitiveness were not a thing back then) and Raikou more than Suicune (again, it's a bloody sabre cat!).
3. Generation III - Pokemon Omega Ruby vs Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (RSE Remake)
b) Version Preference
Long before I even bought the 3DS needed for the games, I already decided on Omega Ruby and it was an incredibly easy choice for me. I played Pokemon Showdown before the games were released and I found myself loving Mega Mawile much more than Mega Sableye, not to mention that I liked Mawile more than Sableye ever since RSE. If you played the games, you understand my annoyance at Sableye. The bitch goes for Detect no matter what. Also, Zangoose over Seviper anyday. I hate snakes and on the other hand, Zangoose is quite an adorable Pokemon, if only it didn't look so threatening...which made it super cool. The deciding factor though, apart from Mawile, was Latios. I like the brother of the Eon duo more, which is actually the generic choice. Also, Groudon over Kyogre anyday, even without Primal evolution. I just think its cooler to have a beastly pokemon with sharp claws berserking around compared to a goddamn fish.
Mawile represents the idea of deceit in Pokemon. That cute and adorable face that hides a pair of hideous and lethal jaws behind. I simply love it. I don't like snakes, like I've just said, but that's not because of their stereotypically sly nature. I love cunning animals, wolves and foxes especially. I know Mawile is neither, but isn't it kinda like a tiny baby fox...with gigantic shark jaws?
There's this person in my class, who has a Latios plushie keychain and I have to try very hard not to try to steal it from under his nose. That tells you how much I love Latios. Latias is cutesy and stuff, but Latios always gave off this kind of aloof and arrogant kind of aura. He's like...the INTJ anime character that I always end up having a crush on by Episode 3 in every generic Shounen.

This is the hardest decision for me. The problem with these games is that if you don't start off with Chimchar and get an Infernape, you have only Flareon and Rapidash left as the choices. Houndoom is Pearl exclusive and it really gives the game an edge, but no, I prefer Diamond. There's one Pokemon, in Diamond, that is my 5th favourite Pokemon of all time. Going by the pattern of my favourites, Blaziken, Greninja, Weavile, Absol,... you can tell the pattern, right? Apart from Blaziken, all of them are Dark types, so the Pokemon that makes the decision for me in this generation is Honchkrow. Yes, yes, yes. You can use Staraptor, but it's boring! It's that Normal/Flying type you get at the start of every game and it just doesn't appeal to me. Also, might I add, Super Luck on Honchkrow is OP in-game. I'm getting crits every 3 moves. You may say, hey, Salamence, but you don't actually get Bagon anywhere in the main game.
I love crows and ravens and other black-coloured birds. I mean, that's why I love Dark types. It's a shame that Umbreon is so unusable in-game because it's way too passive and defensive, or else it would be 5 and Honchkrow would be 6. But oh my, even in competitive, every time I get off a Scarfed Brave Bird and watch that Moxie boost go onto my Honchkrow, I start giving off this evil laughter. Also, since I run hazards, my Honchkrow never dies to recoil. This is why when you build, you build around 1 or 2 Pokemon so that you can support them well. Honchkrow MVP!
Also, Silver has a Honchkrow in the manga, who was a Murkrow in the Gold/Silver arc. Furthermore, you know that guy that gives you the Riolu egg in Platinum. Yeah, you know, Riley. His hat reminds me Honchkrow and he's a pretty cool guy. He stars in the anime even. He looks like a goddamn Honchkrow.

This is where I have to choose "which do I hate less". Honestly, I hated this generation with my guts and it's NOT because I'm a genwunner who thinks Generation I is the best. No, it's not. I liked Generation VI. I think one reason why I hated these games was because I just emerged from Generation IV, HGSS. I was all like "Where the fuck is my Pokemon? Why isn't it walking with me anymore?!" And then I go to my Generation III mentality and I gave more middle fingers I can count to whatever bullshit that is that replaced my Pokemon Contests. You know, those contests you grind on until Master Rank Beauty contest to evolve your Feebas into a Milotic? And then the Battle Frontier is gone too?! WOW. Generation V added nothing that I liked, and the Movie Star thing in BW2 was a waste of my bloody time (I was bored, Contests were at least fun), and it also removed everything that I liked.
Everyone should witness my reaction when I finally pulled myself through this painfully boring game and saw Caitlin. I was all like "OMG, I remember you! You're the head of the battle Castle in Platinum, HG and SS!" I was like sinking into my sofa from boredom and I sat up straight for the first time since I started the game. Also, I hate the starters for Unova...so useless, Meganium-level useless. Serperior with no Contrary and the rest makes them all PU tier.
But yes, I have a decision to make, and it's so difficult to make because I like neither games. I do like Reshiram way more than Zekrom...even though I wished they changed the colour scheme. Black and red would be so damn cool. I hate how Reshiram is fully white like, seriously, don't you accidentally char your fur once in a while? So the deciding factor, is just Reshiram, I guess. I mean, this whole game was a pain and the only reason why I even entertained BW2 was because it had some of my favourites from previous generations. Like I had an Ampharos, I love Ampharos. So fuck your Lucario, that shit is repetitive, generic and frankly makes me feel like I'm licking every other Pokemon player's ass. It's that kind of Pokemon which is overrated as hell and doesn't even have sentimental reason because it was a pain in my neck to raise it up in Platinum. I had a stronger bond with my Garchomp than that piece of shit Riolu.

People were all saying that BW sucked and then the fans attributed it to the rise of the genwunners. So how come there was less criticism for X and Y? Oh, I know. Because Generation V was absolute bullshit, but Generation VI added new things that were actually good and innovative. They did remove some things from the past and changed a lot, but what they added was welcomed and phenomenal. It was difficult choosing my preferred version, but just take a look at the legendaries. I'm sorry, a Dark type legendary? HELL YEAH. I mean I do like Xerneas quite a bit too, but it's a Dark type legendary! It's a mascot for my favourite type! Furthermore, ever since the days of RSE, my favourite Electric type was a tie between Jolteon and Manectric. But after Manectric got access to Overheat and Flamethrower, and a coverage with Hidden Power Ice/Grass (which I miraculously got every time I caught it), it became my favourite Electric type. And a Mega? HELL YES.
Normal ability as Lightning Rod. It draws away Electric attacks in double battles, which is exceedingly common in ORAS, away from my Gyarados. Mega evolution ability as Intimidate, which with the exception of Bisharp, which is rarely seen in-game, is a very useful ability, considering my Gyarados is also an Intimidate-user. It was a beautiful team I hate. Double Intimidate, one on each type of attacker. Mega Manectric is also my most used Mega in-game as well as competitive...at least until Bisharp became too popular to risk a Manectric.
This Pokemon is absolutely beautiful. It is a Dark type. It is a legendary. And it's frigging ability is called Dark Aura. I just love Pokemon and characters based off evil and darkness as themes. Yveltal, if only I knew it better, could become my favourite Legendary, but for now, sentiment for Pokemon game prevails and Rayquaza remains as my favourite Legendary.
Lastly, some Pokemon battle music, top 5 to be exact. I know I did this before so I won't comment on it. Also, I need to get back to work or go to sleep. Just don't expect anything to be from Generation V. On top of having a shitty gameplay, shitty story and all that, it also doesn't have good music. What on earth did it do right then? Also, must I say, for a female character, I frigging love Zinnia. I mean, Nintendo gave her a Mega Salamence and a full Dragon team. She earned a badge of badassery. I would have totally lost if I didn't have an Azumarill with Play Rough.

I'm Mad at a "Children's Game" Rant Because I Can't Do Breeding Yet
It's pretty ridiculous how I get extremely annoyed playing games by myself, but possess infinite tolerance when playing team games. The game can't even hear me and I'm sitting over here with my 3DS, mumbling about how I've been catching Ralts for 3 hours and I still can't find a Modest nature one with Synchronise. Also, I hate this particular save file because I haven't been able to find the Mirage Island with Ditto on it. On top of that, that stupid lovey-dovey couple on Sea Mauville, whose only purpose in life is to give me Destiny Knot, refuses to hand over the stupid item. I already have my EV training items ready, but without the Ditto, the Synchronise Ralts of every nature and Destiny Knot, I cannot start breeding anything.
I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be happy or mad that I have all the baby dragons in my Box 1, waiting for months for me to whore them out to the Ditto once I find one. Oh, do I have to mention that Mirage Islands are 100% random and I have absolutely no luck? I swear, once I get my hands on that Ditto, I'll be the top breeder of dragon types.
ORAS allows players to completely the Pokedex very easily on their own, with some luck on Wonder Trade. But with that, the game becomes extremely annoying after you finish the storyline and you're trying to get into the competitive scene. On Showdown, you get your Technician Breloom with Bullet Seed with just a few clicks, but MY GOD, it's frustrating in the game. To understand the DexNav function, once you have caught a certain Pokemon, you can search solely for that one Pokemon in the area. By repeatedly catching/killing the Pokemon, your Search Level for that Pokemon goes up and you are able to find rarer variants of that one Pokemon. Seriously, it took me about 95 encounters of Shroomish to even get a Technician one. Guess what? Bullet Seed is no longer a TM, so you have to find a Shroomish with Bullet Seed too.
I'm not going to sit here for days looking for one with both. I've already attempted to throw my DS out the window when I found a Shroomish with Bullet Seed. But guess what? IT WAS A FEMALE. Seriously! For any noob breeders out there, only MALE Pokemon can pass down egg moves and with my kind of luck, I go for hours only to find a female with the egg move.
Also, Destiny Knot is a random item given after the fight with the couple in Sea Mauville. The chance of getting the item is 10% after the 10th fight. I've been going after the couple for days. Can I just threaten them for it? Since they are already so lovey-dovey, can they just give me the Destiny Knot? Also, note for noob breeders, Destiny Knot allows the Pokemon holding the item to pass all Perfect IVs to their offspring. Perfect IVs are obtained via grinding on DexNav. Even then, at Search Level 100, I've only gotten 3 Perfect IV Pokemon less than 10 times. I'm certainly not happy to get a Shroomish with perfect Sp Atk, Def and Sp Def IVs. Are you seriously, not a single one is useful!
Meanwhile, I'm playing Smite on my very levelled account (thankfully with no lag issues) and being extremely good-natured even though I had a shit Jungler who legitimately got himself killed on the first camp he came across. If I were in the kind of mood I was in playing Pokemon, I would have told him to get his sorry ass off Ranked and go back to Casuals, because bitch, my ELO!
One redeeming thing for Pokemon though, is something extremely simple - the cosplay Pikachu. I personally like the Cool one, since I did sweep through the Cool contests with her, not losing at all, even at Master Rank. Let's conveniently ignore the fact that the only reason I'm doing Contests is because there is a slim chance of getting Destiny Knot as a gift after each successful contest. *mumbles mumbles* I have horrible luck.
Pikachu Rock Star is the one with the coolest special move, in my opinion. Pikachu Rock Star has Meteor Mash, Pikachu Belle with Icicle Crash, Pikachu Pop Star with Draining Kiss, Pikachu Ph. D with Electric Terrain (the most useless one) and Pikachu Libre with Flying Press. The last one is fine too, but I was always more a fan of the Cool and Beauty contests (because most of my Pokemons' moves are of those two types) and didn't really like Tough contests.
Female players are given Pikachu Pop Star automatically, but seeing as the pink frilly dress got me wrinkling my nose almost immediately, I ran straight into the changing room and got my FEMALE Pikachu into the cool Rock Star outfit. Looks at those eyebrows. They are so weird and cool. It's like a cooler Rock Lee, a much cooler Rock Lee (I don't even like Rock Lee, but my Naruto buddy sure does and he's an inspiring character I guess, so I'll give this one to him).

I really love werewolves...not the big fluffy ball of uselessness in Twilight, but the...the type more in-tune to their wild senses. No, I do not like furries, that's disturbing. Also, there's something very intriguing about humans who can transform into a creature with a more bestial nature and the inner struggle that comes with struggling to control that animalistic side of them. And there's also the fact that when I used to play Battleon a decade ago, I always played the Werewolf class. Every other girl played the shitty Vampire class, if they even played at all.

But I give it a second thought and I decided to be nicer so I have Azuma Yunoki from La Cordo D'oro, who isn't much better than Tsukiyama, but at least isn't a creepy. Also, I decided to be super nice and add Gakupo, my favourite Vocaloid (with his super deep voice and what-not).

I genuinely think that if I have no emotional attachment to an ESTP, I can do all these. Don't worry, I have a lot of INTJ female friends, I don't know why. They are very scary people if angered, so beware. Maybe Kiba from Naruto? ...That's quite a far stretch though.

But the minute details that you do know about them, you've managed to spin into an entire fairytale in your mind. This fairytale typically lives as long as you don't try to actually pursue them.
Who you should go for: The one that challenges you and/or your views on the world. The one that will meet you halfway, bettering themselves for you if you will learn to be more accepting of their flaws. Someone that will show you that real life is never ever like a fairytale, BUT it can still be amazing.
I don't know if INFPs are sadder of INFJs. INFJs are so pessimistic, it's like we've accepted that we are going to be alone for the rest of our lives. INFPs are delusional, so I suppose when reality hits, it's probably more painful. Hinata is definitely an INFP, no arguments, although she does become more realistic in Shippuden.
11. INTJ
Who you usually go for: The one who argues with you. Or does anything that engages both your intellect and emotion at the same time. You enjoy analysing every tiny detail about people's behaviour and what makes them tick. So surprise, surprise, you're attracted to the one you can't figure out. The one whose behaviour you can't quite analyse.
Who you should go for: The one who seduces you. The one who is able to make you throw logic out the window, and just go with what you're feeling. Someone who shows you that things don't always have to "make sense" for them to make you happy.
Too many INTJs in anime, seriously. Every second villain is an INTJ. Uchiha Sasuke, my very first anime crush, is an INTJ. Lelouch is an INTJ. Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist is an INTJ. Light is a potential INTJ (because I'm not sure if he's I or E). Byakuya, the gorgeous guy from Bleach is an INTJ. Just too many.

12. INTP
Who you usually go for: You don't. They go for you. The persistent one who will follow you around until you finally give in. And if you're being honest, your relationship is almost 100% them.
Who you should go for: The one that actually makes you want to do something. The one that makes you decide that they are worth the effort and time and money. Someone that makes you get off your couch, or walk across the room to check your phone. Someone that makes you feel something substantial.
Who is colder, INTJ or INTP? Now, I'm not so sure. Sasuke may be an INTJ, but the way Sakura pines after him makes him feel like an INTP. Maybe Belphegor from Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn?
13. ISFJ
Who you usually go for: The non-committer. You go for the one who is just wrapping their ehad around the idea of bringing you over for Christmas dinner when you're already thinking of baby names. Why? I don't know. Maybe you just like feeling ten steps ahead emotionally in every relationship. Or maybe you care so much that it makes up for how little they care in return.
Who you should go for: The one who balances you out. The one who doesn't make you feel like they need to catch up, but rather, that you should slow down. Someone who is not in a rush to fall in love, but will be beside you -- not behind you -- every step of the way.
I had this feeling too, that this was the way her brain worked. Until the moment she realised that her emotional commitment was greater than his, she was pining, probably as hard as I pine (we are IxFJs). I can sense the almost gravitational pull that brought her to him. It was painful to watch the moment when she detached herself, pulled back so fast, it was both shocking yet impressive. ISFJs possess the ability to preserve themselves much better than INFJs, after all, so to me, it was very impressive. But like us, so much is hidden inside and even if I can sense it, I don't know whether I should try to touch it. The only ISFJ I can think of - Ran from Detective Conan.
14. ISFP
Who you usually go for: No one. You don't go for anymore. Not because you're extremely lazy and laid-back (which you are), but because you genuinely aren't interested. And even if you are, you'll let these alien feelings simmer down until they eventually go away, so you can revert to your carefree self.
Who you should go for: The one who penetrates your little bubble. Someone who understands where your mind is at when it's not with them, and won't get mad at you for being "uninvolved" or "passive".
I see a job for ENFP and ENFJ here. I guess INFJs can do the job too, but Introverts usually shouldn't go with Introverts. Alphonse could be a potential ISFP? It's a "maybe" though.
15. ISTJ
Who you usually go for: The "It" Girl/Guy type. Usually within your circle of friends, because you're afraid to be seen with anyone that isn't considered socially acceptable. The one that majority of your peers agree is smoking hot, and their jealous approval makes you feel like you've achieved something.
Who you should go for: The one who sees past your reputation. The one who, by some miracle or moment off-guard, you've reveals yourself to. Someone who knows you're actually a softie, and are a lot more clueless than you're leading on. Someone who doesn't' believe in the status quo and in turn, liberate you from it.
I think I know an ISTJ...hmmm... Anyway, never go for the one that everyone pines after, they are usually trouble and are overrated. It's like when people hype too much on a game - it will only lead to severe disappointment and outrage. Follow your intuition, though I know you have none, and try to see past social norms. Just because everyone else thinks that guy is __ doesn't mean he definitely is. Sadly, I think Neji is an ISTJ...though I really like him. Don't you dare ship NejiTen too.
16. ISTP
Who you usually go for: The one that looks just as nonchalant as you are. You'll establish from the start that you don't want anything serious, or heavy. So someone that has the same intentions is ideal. Until they get too clingy and start demanding more of you, at which point, you will make a run for it. Because unlike them, you actually mean it when you say "no strings attached".
Who you should go for: The honest one. The one who is upfront at every point about their intentions and feelings for you, regardless of whether they will scare you away. Someone who gives you equal amounts of affection and personal space, and knows you well enough to know exactly when you need each.
Not a very nice type of people, huh. "No string attached" sound like the type of person I avoid. Every relationship comes with a string, just different types of strings. I hold work and things like that not that seriously, but relationships...I value commitment greatly. So ISTPs and me...won't get along. No anime characters I can think of.
